I would never trade. What I would do though is sell your bag and use that cash in your Paypal a/c to then buy their bag. Then there is no swap - just two transactions. You both get stung for Paypal fees but it's a small price to pay for the protection you both gain.

Could you both agree to basically buy each others bags for the same price...
For example you have a listing and the buyer buys your bag for £300
The buyer has a listing and you buy their bag for £300.
Neither of you can ship until payement has been recieved and you still have the protection (especially if its ebay)
