it came up in the Bal forum but maybe it applies to others too

there are shots of people included in these threads, sometimes faces obvious, and it is not clear if they consented to this.

is there a policy regarding this? I, for one, would be livid to find a pic of myself with location etc etc and I wasn't asked.

Are members taking photos of people and posting them on here?

ed: nm, I just looked at that thread. :nogood: Selfies are one thing, but this is entirely another.

Makes me uneasy too.

If someone were to recognize a picture of themselves and would like it removed (which has never happened), we're happy to remove it.

Generally taking pictures of people in public is a perfectly legal thing to do, so I don't see any issue with it.

someone posted a link to that effect in the Bal thread (e.g. in Germany it is not legal without consent)

thanks - I was about to bring up the ethics point - ethically it is completely off, even though legal

also sorry for not being able to let this go - but I think it is dangerous to post this much info about someone that doesn't even have a say in the matter online

Maybe just have a rule asking posters to obscure the face or crop the photo? For the most part, posters have been discreet and unobtrusive. I personally love these threads, but agree that faces shouldn't be shown.
