I know most people would say not to wear a nice bag to a sporting event because it could get spilled on, bumped into, etc. But, I go to a LOT of sporting events and carrying nice bags is fun for me. So, please help me find this miracle bag:

- crossbody with a long strap (23+ inches)
- durable material (e.g. coated canvas or thick grained leather)
- camera bag style ideally with a zip
- needs to come in a royal blue-ish color
- no monogram

I used to have a Gucci Soho disco and sold it - I wore it to sporting events and I loved it function-wise, but that bag wasn’t doing it for me style-wise. I wore my BV Nodini today and it was the perfect size but just too delicate with the lamb(?) woven leather.

Any ideas?

Does your venue require a clear bag with certain measurements? I looked it up and many venues have been enforcing this for sometime now because of the terrorist attacks in the past.

Otherwise I would bring a very small crossbody bag that you can keep on your person at all times. A camera bag would work since it can hold plenty of items.

Coach and Michael Kors has some coated canvas crossbodies. I recommend going to their outlet stores (coachoutlet.com) and buy a cheap one since it might get spilled on.

I was going to ask the same thing @Naminé did. In the US, at most major sports events & concert venues, we have to use a clear bag and it has to be under a certain size. So I use a clear tinted vinyl adidas festival bag. I would love to use something a bit nicer, but I wouldn't be allowed to bring it in.

Yes, Adidas does make some cute ones actually, and really good quality, too. But make sure your venue is okay with graphics like the Adidas logo on it. Some places allow logos but only on one side of the bag.

You can always go to Amazon and find clear bags, as well as Forever 21. Before you buy, look up the venue's website and make sure your bag matches their measurements. You don't want to be turned away and forced to lock your bag in your car. Or spend $10 to put it in the venue's locker.

The GiGi New York Madison Crossbody might work for you!

Too large for my area's hockey and football stadiums, mayyybe could get it in our basketball arena. Baseball stadium has a much more generous bag policy.

Check out Prada nylon bags. I use a nylon Prada crossbody with a top handle from a travel collection - the straps are stronger and body is reinforced. Great for when I'm at an event all day or night, like US Open Tennis. Granted, it's bigger than a camera bag, I can carry a water bottle and a few extras. And I can put the bag on the concrete next to my chair without worrying about scratches. The nylon is also great for rainy/snowy days.
Prada nylon seems to be popular again. You can also find pre-owned. It used to come in many colors including royal blue.
LeSportsac may have something too.
Also check out Saint Laurent Lou camera bag in canvas, although royal isn't an option.

I am hoping there will be some good ideas in this thread!

Going to a NHL game tomorrow and the stadium's bag policy is super vague which is frustrating. "No bags" but also no measurements given for what type of wallet or other vessel can be used. I emailed for more info/clarification if my long wallet with wrist strap would be let in and gave dimensions and their vague response was that it must "fit in a pocket"...but like pockets vary from garment to garment (trouser pocket? hoodie pocket? coat pocket?!). Deciding to go with a billfold with a small zip pocket that fits in my pant pocket just in case.

At least the basketball arena is more definitive in 5"x9" or the football stadium being 5"x7" for a wallet or small clutch. Football stadium also allows larger bags that are clear, I have a vinyl crossbody I bought years ago on eBay when I volunteered at a marathon that required only clear bags.

I get the clear bags but why no logos?

Check your stadium’s bag policy.
I went to a Clipper’s game last month. And used a clear bag but I guess it’s something that was not required for that particular stadium.

And while that bag size was the rule, there were definitely people who disregarded that. Saw a huge YSL bag that was more like 10 x 8 x 2. As you can see in the photo it says clear bags are not allowed but they let me in anyway.

I saw pretty much everything from a Chanel boy bag, to a mini Kelly to Gucci and of course YSL.

So I guess it’s what you’re comfortable with and how strict they stick to their policies.

May I ask if you have a budget?

This sounds like a fun challenge and I’d love to help search.

• Budget?
• Does it have to be mostly clear with just blue trim?
• Size restrictions?
• Logo acceptable?
• Can it have a strap or must it be a wallet / clutch?

Thank you all for the advice!

Good points about clear bags. I actually don’t need it to be clear, but who knows how/if policies will change over time.

I suppose I’d be open to a clear bag if it was relatively inexpensive, but if my options were normal sized clear bag or a smaller non-clear bag (~5x7”) I would prefer the non clear bag but it must have a shoulder strap. I mostly carried a WOC last season and the capacity was a little small, but doable if necessary.
  • Budget (@lill_canele @Sparkletastic thanks for pointing out that I forgot to mention this key part…) I’ll get a lot of use out of this bag so I’d be open to something <=$3k
  • Size: would prefer something camera bag style (~6x8x2” are the soho disco measurements which I found perfect)
  • Color: doesn’t have to be all royal blue but needs some royal blue. No other accent colors (e.g. no red, no light blue, etc.)
  • Logo is acceptable but would prefer no monogram
  • Would prefer a strap
@Scarlett O'Hara I was actually considering the Prada nylon in the royal blue but I’m not familiar with nylon. Will that color stain?

The first bag I would think of in the non clear section would be the Celine Nano Luggage. It is supersturdy, has crossbody and hand held handles and a good size, which definitely holds essentials without being to big! Also it is superchic - at least in my opinion. Only downside - expensive… But then very usable for many occations! I love mine and it is still pristine despite being thrown around alot.

Moynat has a lovely all leather camera bag, that comes with a top handle and a crossbody strap. The issue is that there isn't a version in navy blue atm. However, the Moynat blue is a beautiful color.
Maybe something to keep in mind if you don't mind waiting.

Here's a photo of the camera bag and then some other photos of Moynat's navy and royal blues.

I love the luggage but it doesn't seem as malleable as I'd like the this bag to be. It would be nice to have something I can keep on crossbody and have sit in my lap during games that are too crowded to put it on a seat next to me. So, if I'm going to do that I'd prefer something that's a little squishier if that makes sense. Thank you for the suggestion! It wasn't something I had considered.
