Bag arrived damaged, help for DIY fix??

So I just received by new Willow shoulder bag from coach, the shipping information never updated or worked and customer service was useless. Now that the bag showed up, there seems to be some damage on the turn lock. I’m not sure if it’s dye from the leather or what it is, I cannot replace this bag because it is sold out in this color I love the bag and I want to keep it, does anybody have any recommendations on how I might get this off of the brass hardware??6B589967-FCDA-414F-B7AD-6FCA5EEC2467.jpeg

I'm guessing some mild metal polish will take care of it, but keep in mind that if you do anything to change it then you won't be able to return it later. You might first try taking it to the coach store and showing it to the staff. They might be able to polish or exchange it.

Yea I was thinking of going to the store to see what they say, I haven’t even finished removing all the packing from the bag because I’m disappointed. I just wanted this bag for a while and knowing it’s completely out of stock now I feel like my hands are tied. It literally almost looks like black sharpie or ink blotches, but it won’t wipe off with hot water. So strange. I’m just salty because I had taken a step away from coach for a few years… and this has been a really frustrating shopping experience with them. The phone CS isn’t helpful.

I would still take it to the store first, they may be able to fix the problem or they may offer a partial refund. You can still decide to keep it no matter what they suggest. Good luck!
