I haven't purchased a handbag in a really long time.
I had been waiting to decide what I REALLY wanted.
I started to realize that I enjoy a handbag that's versatile, practical but still elegant.
So, my impossible quest began.
I just bought a small black faye backpack a couple of days ago. I like how it's a dressy backpack that can transition to a shoulder bag and a crossbody. I would like to get a neutral color for the summer.

Pros for the Mini Faye - it's half of the price of the Gucci. It's super cute and still somewhat casual.
Pros for the Gucci - it's very nice with the tri color design. I feel like it could go with more outfits due to the color options. It does look a bit more dressy. It locks, so I feel more secure! The Gucci is slightly larger than the Faye as well.
I'm stopped by the cost of the Gucci - almost $2k cdn after taxes.

Of course, I initially was saving up for a Chanel backpack until I realized that the Chloe backpacks went on sale. Then all determination for a Chanel went out the window :)

Feel free to voice other options as well. I want a premier designer handbag. I have a few crossbodies, but I find they hurt my shoulders after awhile of walking out and about.

I’m going to be honest and I’m not crazy about either but I particularly do not like the Faye at all. If I had to choose it would be the Gucci but I would prefer an all leather for a backpack. Good luck deciding.

Have you considered the LV Palm Springs PM? I have it, it holds quite a lot and the padded shoulder straps are extremely comfortable. Out of the two you've chosen I prefer the Gucci. Darned expensive though...

Thanks very much for your feedback! Could you give me a little more insight into why you don't like the Faye? I'd love to hear it! If you have any ideas about backpack options that could transition into a shoulder back/crossbody please let me know. I'm seeking out other options! I was looking at the Chanel all leather backpacks - but the problem was the backpacks didn't really transition to a shoulder bag.

Agreed! It was quite expensive. I'd love to get an LV palm springs, but I hear they are like a mythical beast = non existent aka hard to get.

Thanks very much for your feedback as well! I appreciate your perspective!

It’s really just a personal thing. I hate the hardware. For some reason i think monocle with that big ring. I think the important thing is for you to love whatever you buy. I have in the past wanted the mini lockme backpack LV in gold but never purchased. I think the color is discontinued. Maybe just try on what you like and see what makes your heart sing.

I actually like them both. I would purchase the Gucci because I like the black accent color and suede on the top flap of the Chloe may be really difficult to take care of. Good luck.

The Chloe seems a bit ubiquitous and not in a good way... cute backpack, but I've seen similar in Marshalls, J C Penny, Sears, Target, etc. The Gucci is nicer... especially with the lock and key and key bell. Loving the mix of the black and the brown leather. Great stitching too.
