Apologies as this is not is not jewelry but it is Tiffany so I believe it counts :smile1:

I was planning on purchasing the Tiffany crystal Refresher Set as an X-Mas gift for my parents this year. It seemed perfect: six glasses and a pitcher in beautiful Tiffany crystal, simple, but still elegant and for quite a good price.

Fast forward to last weekend, I was in Manhattan with my mother and we took a stroll through T&Co. and while at their crystal floor I pointed out the set and made a comment at how pretty I thought it was. Her response? "Really? It's so plain and boring," before walking on.

I'm a little heartbroken, only because I thought this was a perfect gift for my parents this year, they tend to like more practical gifts (not really the tie and jewelry bunch they are). Is there anything y'all would suggest? Should I get it for them anyway? I'd like to still get them a joint gift from Tiffany so any and all help is extremely appreciated!

I find parents impossible to shop for as an adult. They've had more time to acquire high-end pieces they adore and since you've been buying them presents forever, it's difficult to not be repetitive. Then, I always get told I shouldn't have spent so much.

I'd probably try to go for something else based on her comment. Did you happen to catch anything that she liked or lingered on while out with her?

That's the problem I had last year, got my mom and H scarf and my dad two nice bottles of wine and, while they were extremely appreciative, was told multiple times about how I shouldn't have. I was hoping a nice joint gift would ease that a little bit, I assume 1 nice present would be less offensive than 2 nice presents haha

Not really, my mom really loves dishes but really only in complete sets, so to get her a complete set of nice dishes and then something for my dad is a bit out of the budget for me. Hermes has a beautiful vodka decanter with two glasses (which she did like) but that's a bit out of reach for this year for me unfortunately.
