Authenticated service!?

I don't know an authentication service, but to put my mind at ease when I purchased a preowned Love bangle several years ago, I took it to Cartier and requested engraving.
They looked up the serial, examined the bracelet and then engraved it free of charge for me. Figured they wouldn't do that if it wasn't authentic and authentication sites for Cartier seemed to be hard to find and I'd probably still be left wondering until Cartier looked at it!

I did something similar, although years ago. I brought the items I bought preloved (two watches and a diamond Trinity ring) to Cartier and asked them to provide written appraisals for insurance purposes. (I did these requests several years apart from one another — not at one time.) I can’t remember if they kept the items or just photographed them but they did provide me with written valuations, including the serial numbers, so I was confident of authenticity.
