Can anyone tell me if I got hosed purchasing this coach market tote bag today. I can’t find anything on the serial number and coach customer services decline to confirm the serial number. I read that if it starts with an M is produced for Macy’s.....

A serial number can never prove a bag is genuine. Why wouldn't fakes makers be able to copy a serial number?
Coach employees by company policy are not allowed to give authentication opinions or comment on whether or not style numbers are valid. Again, a serial number can't prove authenticity, although it can sometimes indicate that a bag is fake.
