At-home hair color?

I have always had my hair colored in a salon, but want to start doing it myself. I need recommendations for the best brand(s). I have been using Madison Reed Root touch up in between appointments. Thinking of using their permanent color, but has anyone used a brand they love? My hair is probably at least 80% grey…at least the part I can see, and the color has to be permanent. My natural color is dark brown.

I use Pravana for root touch ups (4N). Maybe 30% grey? I honestly have a hard time quantifying that!
I'd say coverage is good, but one of the reasons I use it is that there is none of that hair dye odor that a lot of brands have.
(I order mine from a beauty supply store BTW)
