I'm getting older and am tired of wearing cheaper jewelry that I inevitably lose. I'd like to get one pair of earrings that I can just wear with everything, and not worry about them.

I love the look of the asscher cut diamonds, but I'm afraid I'm too poor to ever afford any in a size that would look decent. Do Asscher cut stones look good as studs? If so, what size stones look best in this cut, and what am I probably looking at spending? Also, can these go with everything, or are they too fancy?

Sorry for all the questions; I'm a jewelry novice. I searched the topic, but only saw threads on Asscher rings, but not earrings. Thanks in advance..!

I don't really know all that much about asschers except that in general you need a higher clarity and color than other shapes because inclusion show easier. That would lead me to believe they'll be pricier than rbs or princess cuts where you can get away with a little more. I'd go bluenile or jamesallen just to get some pricing and figure out what size fits into your budget--I'm sure any size will be lovely.

I have two pairs of asscher cut studs, one regular and one halo. You do need to get a better clarity and colour because inclusions are so visible with this cut. Also, the one major thing that you need to know about asschers is that they face up (look smaller than their actual carat weight) small because they are cut deeper. My one pair is 1.75 cttw but the diamonds look as if they're only 1/2 of a carat each and my other pair (the halos) are 2.50 cts for the two asschers but they look as if they're only a carat each. So with those two things to consider, asscher cuts are going to run you more money.

Just like the other ladies said, with an asscher cut, you need a higher clarity & color as step-cuts show inclusions much more easily. However, another thing to consider is how you want the stones to look! There are people that much prefer warmer colored asschers (I believe a woman just posted her beautiful 3 ct warm-colored asscher not too long ago) andthen there are people that prefer the icy white!

If you prefer the warmer colors (which some ladies on here have been rocking that are fab!!!), they will be lower in price. Also take into consideration that these would be used as earrings, therefore the clarity doesnt have to be FL or anything!!! You could probably find VS1 asschers that look fab and are in your price range!

Before you get discouraged, I would advise you to look around/browse for a bit and see what you can get for your money! I personally love my asscher studs! They just look so simple/clean yet elegant! And definitely not in your face blingy - I love the subtleness of step cuts!!!
