A-ha! Maybe I've gotten to the bottom of something here.
tPF's disparate reviews of Aspinal of London bags make me scratch my head. I have two and I rarely wear either. I love them, but they are not every day bags. One is gold moire and one is red croc. Very cute, but not right for every outfit. I'm fine with that. In terms of quality, I have a hard time answering what I think. I haven't used them enough, so it's hard for me to answer.
I could not compare them to a Tod's thick chewy leather or an LV coated canvas. Both of these are durable and wonderful, but so different.
I've been thinking I might like to find a smooth, brown leather, every day kind of bag (I do not have a casual black or brown bag, somehow). I like the lines of Aspinal, but how do they hold up?
Some people here love the quality, some abhor the quality. I cannot understand it. It just occurred to me, maybe the difference is in ever day bags vs. special occasion bags. I could see this going either way. A) Every day bags don't hold up to ever day use, or B) Fancy leathers (e.g. moire or croc) do not hold up to multiple uses, are easily scuffed, etc.
Alternately, maybe A of L had hit or miss quality and it's as simple as that.
Thoughts?
