Hello all, I haven't bought from LV before and was wondering if I can get my local store to order in a mini pochette I am interested in, and if that is an easy process. I find it inconvenient to be home to receive parcels, so I don't love online shopping.

Thanks in advance from a newbie!

Yes, if the bag is available, a local SA should be able to order for you and you could pick up from boutique. You likely won't be able to contact store by phone (calls are usually routed to a customer care center) but if you go in person, you can work with a SA who can give you their number and then you can text or call them directly. Good luck!

Another option is ordering online and selecting the store pick-up option. I also don't like to receive my orders at home so if I make an online order I always choose to pick up in store.
That is also a great suggestion! I think depends if the OP cares about establishing a relationship with a local SA or not. Personally, I like ordering from mine so I know he gets commission and it's anyways nice to have someone to reach out to.... if there's an item I'm interested in, he can help try to track down, etc.

Yes totally agree! I also prefer to order with my SA because I like him to get the commission and to me it's more fun to visit the store to someone you already know and build a relationship with :D but in cases that's not possible I use the store pick-up option.

Have SAs always received commission? I haven't had one in years because I live too far from a store now, but back when I did have one he told me that they had sales goals, but didn't get commission.

Yes they do. Their cut also depends on the item purchased.
From what I understand, regular monogram/damier canvas are considered easy sales and can basically sell themselves so the commission percent reflects that. It is almost nonexistent at 0.1%. Leather ranges 0.6-1%. Capucines 1-3%. Hard sided /exotics and RTW 3%. Watches 3-4%. This is a rough calculation and can vary from month to month and even region to region. It may also differ between stand alone stores vs concessions within department stores. There are also overall store bonuses and individual bonuses for volume or cross category selling. So basically any transaction that involves a SA, it impacts their bottom line.

I imagine any SA would be happy to order an out of stock bag regardless how little commissions earned up front as it will increase their overall sales numbers regardless. It also grows their client roster (especially if you become a repeat customer) which is a key performance indicator (kpi) used in their annual reviews to determine their base raises.

Bottom line, they should want to help you find whatever. Their job is to sell no matter how small the purchase! They want you to be happy and be a return customer. So @malachitenine don’t be shy! It is always better IMHO to have a SA that knows you. It becomes so much more helpful in cases of after sales service. The horrid stories you hear about online customer service is because a lot of the times those customers don’t have a good SA that can advocate for them.

I prefer to work with SA in the store to place an order. I did that when I got my Alma PM Malletage in December. My order got delayed but the SA was able to chase it down and make sure it arrived before Christmas. Nice to have a real live person to check with. Plus she was able to get a commission by placing the order for me. And lol, nobody from LV brings you a glass of champagne when you order online from home.
