My SO and I have been looking at engagement rings. I've decided I don't want diamonds (for many reasons). I thought I wanted Moissanite, but after reading through several threads here I'm now considering Asha. I found several rings that I really love, and they're very affordable! :yahoo:

I hope it's not too good to be true! How do they hold up over time? I don't plan on replacing it with a diamond so I really want something that will be beautiful forever. Has anyone had any problems with clouding, chipping, etc?

PS: I've read through the other threads, but they're several months (if not years) old so I'm hoping to get some updated reviews. :)

TIA! :)

i bought 3 things from there - 3 ct princess cut solitaire ring, .30/each (total 5ct) eternity round ring, and 3.5ct brilliant loose stone.

I returned 2 out 3- only kept the eternity ring. princess cut looks fake, and 3.5 stone looked fake. I love jewelry and owned many and when I compared with my real dimond, it just looked not right. although my eternity ring looks not that noticeable - not sure if it is because the stones are small...for $1,000 eternity ring that goes for at least $10,000...i will keep that one for fun ring but not sure how long it will keep the sparking...

There's a board, betterthandiamonds.com you might look at. People discuss their asha jewelry there and compare asha, moissanite and other simulants. I used to hang out there for a while but never bought anything except one .75 carat pear for a pendant at freecz.com. It looks very good, but its not that old (maybe 6 mos? and I've hardly worn it) and anyway, its not an Asha so I can't tell you what they look like.

I did notice that people talked about replacing their rings after 5 or 6 years, so it seemed it must have a shelf life. But I don't know. maybe someone can weigh in on it here. I'm not familiar with a lot of simulants in person. I looked at moissanite at JCPenney, but thought it was an off-color and anyway very expensive. I do hear that there are places where it is sold and is not an off color though (people call it green--I didn't see green, I just saw something 'off'). I'm more familiar with CZ, which I think often looks very diamond-like, if its well-cut, if you keep to a smaller size (under 1 carat, basically) and if you keep it very very clean. It stops looking like diamond when its dirty. the thing is, though, the sizes that CZ looks good in, are the sizes that people actually can afford usually in real diamonds, if they shop smart. so it seems a bit pointless.

Are you really stuck on a diamond-looking stone or would you consider a colored stone e-ring--many kinds of stones are beautiful and very affordable? Or would you consider buying a diamond 'used' at somewhere like a pawnshop? I have gotten very very good deals there on real diamonds and if the diamond is in an out of style piece, you can do a reset.

anyway, go to betterthandiamonds.com for more information, more from the horses mouth.

Thank you so much for the information! Very helpful. I've decided to go with Asha for now and IF it becomes discolored or chipped or whatever we'll replace the stone with an antique/second hand diamond (I wouldn't want a totally new and different looking ring). I'm not super hard on things, so hopefully with some TLC it'll look great for a long time! :)

Thanks again! :)

the ones from FreeCz.com are great, though Id have to say not a lifetime of wear.

I think on BTD they mention something about Liz C and she makes some AMAZING items with I believe her own stones.
