For those of you ladies who have a Tiffany e-ring, are you glad you choose to get a Tiffany over a no name brand, even though you could of got a larger carat for the same price?

To some people it's important that they get to say their ring came from Tiffany & Co. because it's all about the label and glamour attached to the name.

For me, it seems silly and wasteful to spend infinitely more money for a ring from Tiffany, when I could get almost the exact same thing (and probably in better quality) for much cheaper elsewhere.

I'm not knocking Tiffany quality, it's impeccable, truly, but a diamond is a diamond. You can get the same quality diamonds elsewhere and, without the name attached, pay much less.

I know some people on here are very wealthy and can probably drop tens of thousands of dollars on something with no problem, but for those of us who live paycheck to paycheck (or a little better), it's a bad idea to go into debt over a name. It would be an awful way to start a marriage, by having a huge, unnecessary debt.

Kathyinjapan-if you don't mind me asking what style, carat, color and clarity did you go with?

just the plain tiffany setting, 0.35ct, F VVS1. It didn't break the bank ;)

brand name or not, we were living abroad at the time and limited with our options (we didn't want to go with some unknown Japanese jeweler and the only other brand I knew of here was Bvlgari but DH didn't like their diamonds). He liked the diamonds at Tiffany and that's what he wanted to get me so it was an easy choice. Do I regret not getting a bigger diamond from elsewhere? absolutely not!

It's not for everyone.. jst like how Louis Vuitton bags aren't for everyone. All I can say is do your research and shop around and go with whoever you are 100% happy with.

Most people who chose to go with Tiffany would not be disappointed that they did; they had the same options you do before purchasing and they chose to pay more for the name. So if you are asking only for the input of those who purchased Tiffany, it is unlikely anyone will say no. But if you are asking if Tiffany is worth it, only you can answer that for yourself. It was not worth it to me. A person can get exactly the same quality stone for much less from a trusted jeweler without the name attached, and one doesn't wear the blue box on the finger!

But like I said, had Tiffany been worth it to me, I would have purchased one! I'd imagine anyone that DID spend the extra money was happy to do so because it was worth it to them.

I agree...it up to you want you want.

I have a tiffany and would never change it. For my fiance at the time, he just trusted the brand and went with it.

I still love it like it was yesterday...eventhough I got it almost 8 years ago! The style never changed.

Try to take everyone's opinions for what it's worth. I know you are asking a lot of feedback but at the end of the day, YOU need to love your ring. Whatever makes you happiest in person (color, clarity, branded or unbranded) will be the right ring for you!

I honestly cannot think of one person that doesn't know that unbranded anything is always cheaper than branded. So obviously, those that chose to purchase from Tiffany knew from the beginning that the prices are going to be a bit higher. And those that didn't purchase from Tiffany will usually always tell you that no one knows where the ring is from, you aren't wearing the blue box...

Tiffany sells beautiful jewelry. Their settings are TDF and I think for certain designs, it's best to just get the ring from Tiffany than getting an "almost looks like."

Example, you love the Legacy ring. Well, it will be hard for a custom jeweler to get the proportions JUST right based on your individual stone and the 2 pictures provided on their website. The tiny pave diamonds are full cut (all 58 facets instead of 19), so if the jeweler did not do that you may not get the same quality of diamonds in the setting or that may affect your price quote on a custom ring. The Legacy has a different cushion than what most brokers sell as a cushion. It has less of a crushed ice/vintage glow and more of being a softer Asscher. If you only like the setting and want a different center diamond cut then custom from a local jeweler is definitely the way to go.

Try pricing out like for like: the setting, a diamond with the same cut (most people will quote you a generic cushion from an online vendor... which doesn't mean that it will have the same look at all), cost of getting a certified/ethical diamond. If it's still significantly cheaper, I would at least consider it. If you don't think the difference is that big of a deal/ close enough than I would get the ring from Tiffany's.

Thank you everyone. I really appreciate all your opinions.

Gimmethebag- you made some excellent points. I'm going to go with the Tiffany Legacy, to me it is worth the extra money. I have seen replicas of the ring and none compare to it. I absolutely love the ring and I know for sure 100% its the right one for me.

Thanks again ladies.

Only you can say it is worth it. Unless you go telling everybody that your e-ring is a Tiffany, no one will know.

Some may argue that Tiffany's quality and designs are unsurpassed by any other jewellers, again it is a personal perspective.

If you and your SO are happy with it, then that is all that counts.

From our communications and your posts, I really believe that you will be happiest with the Tiffany Legacy. I'm afraid you will have buyer's remorse if you get anything else. The Tiffany Legacy is so gorgeous. Good luck!
