Are sideways/ asymmetrical necklaces trendy or lasting?

Can you share some examples? Do you mean where the motif is sideways (i.e. sideways cross) or where several motifs are on one side? IMO, both will stand the test of time... at least for the next decade or two.

I think they're popular, but won't go out of style necessarily. Kind of like how halo e-rings have been popular/trendy, they're still classic.

Trendy and more for a younger casual look in my opinion.

For example, it’s not classic serious jewelry I would wear with a suit to a client meeting.

I am not a fan.

This perspective helps. That's kind of how I feel too. My gut tells me its not me even thought I'd like it to be. Its not a classic per say.

Funny you say that. I feel the exact same way. I actually love the sideways cross look. When it first came out, I was so tempted and have been tempted several times to get one.
But then I do a self-check on myself to stay with my look. This look is too youthful, casual, cute, for me and the look I try to achieve is a more sophisticated elegant one.

As FYI, I showed my husband one time and asked for his opinion.... he said “that is cute, but not classy.” Funny even he said it.

I think for me the point of jewelry is self-expression. I don't really care if something is popular or classic or will look good in ten years. Just that I like it and feel it looks good on me. I wear what I have and when I stop wanting to wear it, I sell it. I really dislike having the same styles that you can see coming and going, which is one reason I mostly stick to vintage/antique pieces. Most of which I guess are out of fashion today, when you think about it. But if they're in fashion for me, that's what matters.

I love this philosophy. I like to go my own way and if something is too popular all around, I will purposely avoid that and go in a different direction, so I stay true to myself. I just don't like going along with the masses. I love vintage jewelry and I've even been looking at finding pieces from the 40's,but on etsy, it's so hard to tell, the condition might look really good but then it's not ( I've had that happen several times). And even been looking at further back in the late 1800's, at some coin jewelry engraved and set into a bezel handmade to look like it was from the victorian period, so it's fascinating. But I often somehow manage to talk myself out that because I feel like it wouldn't be appreciated by anyone but me even though jewelry is for us and not others. Such a dilemma!

That's so crazy, this happens to me, I toy with the idea on and off over a period of time and there's a reason I can't just go through with it, because it's just not "me". I've asked my husband before too and he goes "ehh, it's alright, it's pretty but it's not you". I just ask him because he knows what is me and what's me trying to force a look.

Do you mean something like this?

Sideways Anchor.jpg

If so, I'd say trendy. In my experience, you would need to adjust something like that all day long, since the anchor will keep moving to the lowest point because of its weight. If I really liked one, I probably wouldn't pay very much for it.
