I have a few card holders and mini wallets, but I'm considering a full sized wallet. Are they too out dated now?
I think it's just a matter of convenience, not fashion or trends - people don't carry cash as much/often but only cards so carrying a card holder or a mini wallet saves weight and space. That's what I do most of the time. I have a few large wallets and use them mostly when I do have cash or I want to be able to grab my wallet and leave my bag behind to go for a quick lunch run or do errands. A large zip wallet can fit my phone and I can slip a key or a few in the coin department as well so it's very convenient.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with them if they fit your needs. I used to use them when I regularly carried larger bags but then I downsized to medium/small bags and started using smaller ID wallets. I haven’t looked back and just returned a bifold wallet because it was too bulky for me. I like compact styles with easy access to my cards.

I can't get past the use of the word 'cute' - I've never considered a full-sized wallet "cute".

I agree with the other posters: Because so many have downsized (due to fashion, whatever) they went for a smaller wallet. As bag sizes scale up again, they may or may not get a bigger wallet.

It has to do with the size of the bag. Wallets tend to be more functional items and we tend to change that to make it work in the bag we're carrying.

I definitely agree that it’s more about convenience than whether it’s still cute or in style. I personally carry a half-sized wallet because card holders don’t hold everything I need but I find long wallets too heavy and I also don’t like switching when I want to wear a smaller bag.

I think it's a continental style we're thinking here, around 20 x 12 cm.

Aha, okay! Thank you! :)

I think every size has its justification.
If I use a larger purse I'm very happy to have also a bigger wallet because it is more tidy and not stuffed.
Stylewise, I also think a continental style looks quite elegant - sometimes I might attach importance to it :D

Do what works for you! It is more about what works well for your needs and the size of the bag you carry.

Just because small is "in" right now doesn't mean that you cannot use something bigger. I personally like something more "medium" size and a bag that can fit what I need to carry, but it is a personal choice.
