Hi my black leather slim carly is fairly new. I have only used it a couple of times. I heard from other threads about Apple Cleaner/Conditioner. I just purchase it a couple of days ago and just got it in the mail yesterday. I am really excited about using it but my question is since my bag isn't really dirty, do I still need to use the cleaner first before putting on the conditioner? or can I go ahead and use the conditioner now and use the cleaner later when it gets dirty?:confused1:

I don't know about the cleaner, I only purchase the Apple conditioner. The cleaner is not good for some Coach leather, I've heard it rubs the white dye off the white Coach leather purses and I know you're not supposed to use cleaner on legacy bags or maybe even bleeckers (might rub off the burnished treatment on the leather). I'd just stick with the conditioner (moisturizer) and save your leather cleaner to use on your leather shoes or something when they're dirty. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

When I order Apple Moisturizer, I never order the cleaner because it seems I read on here once not to use the cleaner. Why exactly is that? The cleaner is designed for leather. Is it not safe?

Good question Oops...I bought the starter kit which had both in it. I have only used the moisturizer. I have not needed to use the cleaner yet, but I did not realize that there was an issue with using the cleaner. If there is a problem with it, thanks, you might have just save a "purse's life" for me!!!

i think sometimes when the cleaner is used on some bags the color rubs off. i forgot why the color rubbed off, something about the chemicals in it? but let someone else chime in on this because i also read about that on here and i'm not exactly sure.

Yes, we should get the answer about Apple cleaner. If I had some and wanted to use it I would test it on the underside of the handle or some inconspicuous place first. Maybe it is a good product!

I just ordered the conditioner for my leather wallet...never thought of using the cleaner! I just noticed a dark spot on my wallet...now I'm wondering if I could use the cleaner on it!

Yeah, the cleaner can be a bit harsh and lift the colors on some leathers...especially those that are not cured well. TBH I've used it before, but I've mostly just used the suede and nubuck cleaner. It's diluted with water. I usually start out real weak and get stronger as needed, but full strength can circle or spot as well as lift the color. The conditioner is usually the best thing to use (for leather, not real porous leathers like suede and nubuck), and it creates a barrier to help prevent stains from ruining the leather and make them easier to remove. Jeans transfer can be the worst.

can you only order the apple conditioner on line or is there a store that you can buy at it? i need to get some but don't want to wait for the shipping. TIA and if there is a problem with the cleaner then i wont be getting that.

Well if anyone has the Apple cleaner it can always be used on leather shoes when they get dirty. Or leather furniture.

Well, I won't place an order for the Apple cleaner then if my bag babies might get their dye lifted.
