Apple just introduced their new AirTags for tracking your belongings. You can put them in your Zippys or Almas and find them wherever they are. They have replacable batteries that last for a year. They use the massive network of all the iPhones in the world for tracking, but it is super secure, so only you can see your own bags. What do you think about them? Would you use them as an extra protection for your Vuittons?
(fun fact: LV has its own tracking device for the Horizon luggage, but it is expensive, huge, and a technological joke compared to these)

I guess I'm a little confused as to how you'd use them in your luggage. What would stop someone from just removing the air tag, if they wanted to steal your luggage?

If they know that it is there, that's a different story. But it is true for all other devices like these (Vuitton, Tile, Samsung SmartTags, etc...). There are ways to conceal it, but this is mostly for things that you lose or forget, rather than the ones stolen. But most thieves are not that smart. And if you put these into a luggage tag or a clochette, they wouldn't even notice, I think.

I just saw there is an Hermes Air Tag. Looks like a luggage tag with the tag in the middle. I dunno, I don't think it's for me. But I feel pretty secure with my handbags. Hiding one in my Rimowa suitcase lining though.....perhaps!

Yes, the Hermès version is a fashion statement by itself :D With the matching pricetag :D
A suitcase lining is a very good idea. If it gets lost by the airline, it will recover it immediately.

I just saw what you are talking about. I wonder if Apple will team up with other designers in the future if this proves popular. The price is $29 for one and $99 for a pack of four. I don't know how much the Hermes one is. It seems Apple will be offering accessories, such as key chains to hold the tag, so that seems like an easy way for another designer to get in on this if it proves profitable.

They are between $300-450, depending on the leather part.
I doubt that Apple will collab with anyone besides Hermès. They chose them 6 years ago. They cannot settle, only for the very best. Anyone else would cheapen their brand. It is sad, but Louis Vuitton is not good enough for Apple.

I'm not sure of the legality aspect of it, but since Apple will be offering accessories for these (they look like keychains you can insert the tag into), couldn't anyone make their own version of those keychains? Like iPhone cases, Apple has their own, but tons of brands have gotten in on the game.

Yes, I believe anyone can produce tag-holders. They just won't be an official collab like Hermès.
