Anyone with only 1 or 2 bags, excluding staple work/school bags?

Just curious. When I became more active here, it seems the number of my bags also increased!

I'm toying with the idea of selling my bags and just keeping 1 or 2 I can use when needed.
you may try, put away the bags you think you are going to sell and just use 1 or 2 bags that you think of keeping, frankly, I use most of my bags even some may only be used once or twice a year but when needed, they are really needed :)

I've toyed around with the same idea, and then I opened my bag closet and came to my senses. :giggle:

However, I do know a few women who own 2-3 bags each. One for work, one for free time and and maybe even an evening bag. They seem to be happy with just one alternative in each category - although their bags are of the more expensive end like Chanel, LV, Hermés and they sell and buy frequently. That becomes very costly over time, because you nearly always lose money when selling and the brands they buy never come on sale.

I have 2 designer bags. I may want to replace one of them by the end of this year, but no plans on having a very large collection.
Until late last year I had 12-15 bags at any given time. I steadily sold them and bought 2 I really like and find useful. When I had been accumulating bags, I felt some odd nagging feeling that my bags weren't current enough or I didn't have "the" bag that gave me the feeling I wanted (did it look fancy enough? Was the brand indisputably luxury?). I realized the error of my ways, especially when I admit that most people I know and interact with don't even use designer goods. Who was judging me? No one, lol, just myself.

Yes I only have two purses that I alternate—Gucci arabesque disco-size bag and givenchy pandora. I have a longchamp backpack I carry for work but I wouldn’t use it for anything else.

Like others stated about those who only have one or two bags, I am a bag flipper. I carry one until I wear it out or I dislike and sell. My rationale for only two bags is that we only wear about 10-40% of what is in our closet, so I don’t want to accumulate purses when I know I am not going to wear them.

My pandora is great for weekend outings with family. My arabesque bag is great for when I want to carry just essentials and look nice but not overdone. I’m rarely at a function where I need to look formal so this 2-bag closet works for me. I will be going to a wedding this August and mulling over the idea if the arabesque bag works. I think it does so.. still no excuse to buy a new bag.

I do like to invest in “bags” as a broad category. Suitcases, wallets, key holders, card holders, jewelry holders, slgs...

May I ask what the two bags are that you have now?

For non-work bags, I just have a Marc by Marc Jacobs Karlie cross body in black (I've used this almost everyday for 5 years and it's still in perfect condition!), a Goyard St. Louis GM tote, and a vintage Louis Vuitton Speedy 30. I've found this combination to work well for most situations. The Karlie bag is good for casual outings plus the strap is removable so it can function as a clutch. The St. Louis is a good travel bag and the Speedy is sadly not used too often but mainly for dressier occasions.

As others have stated, I just use a bag until it gets damaged. I love looking at different bags but have only pulled the trigger on bags that I could not stop thinking about and just loved the look of. Yes, I am a devotee of the KonMari method! Recently, I just replaced my workbag (Longchamp Le Pliage tote) which had holes on all of the corners with a beautiful MCM Milla tote that I cannot stop staring at!

Thanks for replying, great choices!
Hi Rani, I decided to sell the Iena after only having it for 3 months.. I am trying not to carry too much stuff outside of my diaper bag I have with me. So I purchased a Prada Corsaire crossbody, it's very beautiful and the perfect size and shape. Compared to it, my Velo now feels very heavy. We'll see how this pans out.
