Anyone try to have leather specialist add chads/chaps to non speedy B?

I have an azur speedy 25 that I rarely use. I found a pristine long strap at a consignment shop for $150 that I think would add optionality to the bag so I could use it more.

I've read here that the LV store won't add the leather strips and chads/chaps (not sure which the loops are called), and some have suggested bringing to a leather specialist. Has anyone ever tried this? How did it turn out? Do they readily have vachetta leather? How much did it cost?

Thanks in advace!!

i would love to know the answer to this. i am on the fence about replacing my 2 regular speedies with a speedy b's. the cost to do so is really high. i have wondered about just having this done, but never pursued it. i have a strap already. anyone out there who has taken this brave step????

Do you use the strap with your speedies now? I think it might be ok if I just put it on the current handles if I don't carry a lot of stuff, esp since mine is a size 25, and maybe alternate the usage of the handles. I don't carry this bag often.

i have tried it but not recently. it definitely works better with the smaller speedies in my opinion, as there is less twisting. the photos on the other thread looked pretty good, but i would be really interested in the modification you mentioned. we'll see if anyone else chimes in.
