I am not a smoker but sometimes when out and having a drink (or two) I will bum one. I used to smoke back in college but quit. When times get stressful the first thing I think about is smoking.

Not to get into a heated "Oh you shouldn't smoke" thread or anything. Just curious about how popular smoking is these days.......

I don't think it's very popular --at least not in Southern California (which is where I live).

I don't smoke and I would never allow anyone to smoke in my house or in my car.

Anywhere out in the open is fair game though as far as I'm concerned...

A lot of people at my law school in Pittsburgh smoke. I wouldn't say the majority but definitely a lot, more so than at my undergrad at UMD.

I had a roommate in the sorority house who used to smoke cloves occasionally (i know, so 80s!) and I did very rarely but never really got into it.

But no, I don't.

And, as in a few other states, Washington passed a smoke free initiative a few years back:

http://www.smokefreewashington.com/laws/smokinginpublic.php

No smoking in public places, which means no smoking in: "...bars, restaurants, bowling centers, skating rinks, and non-tribal casinos. The definition also includes private residences used to provide childcare, foster care, adult care, or similar social services, and at least 75 percent of the sleeping quarters within a hotel.

The Smoking in Public Places law also prohibits smoking within 25 feet of entrances, exits, windows that open, and ventilation intakes that serve enclosed areas where smoking is prohibited."

I do smoke. I used to smoke heavily (about a pack a day) but one day decided I need to cut down. I dropped down continuously and for a while now I've been smoking on average one ciggy every 3 or 4 days, if that! Lately I'll go more than a week with out a smoke!!!! I've pretty much all but given it up, but just dont like the finality of quitting. It's not because I feel it's "in" or "out", it's just that's what I feel is right for me. My BF still smokes alot though.

A fair amount of people at my hs - especially the juniors and seniors - smoke. I don't.
I'm the same age as BasketballCourt ) I don't smoke either, although I know other 14 year olds that do. Lots of kids at my school smoke apparently. I haven't seen it with my own eyes since I haven't started school yet, but I know they exist. I will never, ever smoke and I'd like to keep smokers out of my car and house when I'm old enough to have my own. ;)

I don't smoke, well I puff on cigars once in awhile....but that is neither here nor there...
a lot of people I work with smoke, just the nature of the beast I suppose. I just make sure that if everyone is taking a smoke break, I take one too...why should I have to keep working when everyone else gets to smoke every hour for 15 minutes?

That's such a good theory Candace!!

I don't smoke. I have before, and I guess it was ok. I got the "feeling" but I don't think the stinky-ness is worth it IMO. BF smokes clove and cigars every now and then. I think cigars smell like butt lol.
