anyone punch holes on the shoulder strap

I have a gaufre with a long shoulder strap in which it is used as a crossbody strap most of my time. I wonder if I should take it to a leather shop to have them punch more holes on the strap, so that I can shorten it to wear it as a shoulder bag. Anyone done this before?

i used to work at prada a few years ago and when someone wanted more holes in their strap we took it to sears (the shoe repair place in it punched holes)
its pretty simple but the inside of the hole maybe a different color because it wasn't finished the same wat as the other ones

I just did that yesterday!!! Got two more holes on m Prada Saffiano Fori strap. They look good as if they were there on the first place! I got them done in a shoe repair shop.

I'm too chicken to do it to one of my Prada bags, especially with my turnover habits. A new mommy might not appreciate the extra hole. I have done it with my less expensive brands though.

good idea.. but just wondering if the excess strap will 'dangle' and flap.

I agree with PP. I am a little bit 'chicken' and afraid it will ruin the beauty of the bag.
Anyone can recommend a good one for me to do it in the SF Bay Area?
