I have decided to try to sell a few pieces of Louis Vuitton that I am no longer using. I have never sold anything via consignment before, only privately though eBay.

I decided to try with an LV Pochette Accessoires in Monogram Multicolore first, to dip my toe in the water. I contacted Designer Exchange, who offered me nowhere near what I was expecting, so I've passed on that. However, I did receive a very reasonable offer from Xupes, which I've read is a trusted company.

Does anyone have any experience with consigning items with Xupes? They've told me that should I agree to their price, I will have to send the item to them and then after their authenticity and quality checks, they will list it for sale. Once it sells, they'll transfer me the funds minus their 30% fee, within 35 days. Is that quite standard for these types of consignment sites? I'm just concerned that it may not sell for a long time and then I'm left waiting. Not that I'm using the item anyway! I've responded to their email to ask if there is a time limit on how long they will list an item for sale, or if I can cancel the agreement if I change my mind and have it returned to me, if it hasn't sold. If anyone has any experience with Xupes or similar (particularly UK sites!) I'd love to hear from you. TIA for any advice.

why would you want to give someone your expensive or not bags for free for them to list at any prices they want to list and decide how much they want to pay you and then give you the money after they sold it? that would be worse than going to pawn shop.

Well, that's why I'm asking. As far as I'm aware that's the nature of consignment...

What I would receive after their deductions is roughly three times what the item has sold for recently on eBay, and I am becoming increasingly less inclined to use eBay these days.

I've sold directly to Xupes and it was a very good experience. I brought the bag to their office as it was Hermes and didn't want to risk sending. However, they have insane prices and I doubt your item would sell quickly therefore I wouldn't do it as consignment.

Thank you for your reply. I think they’re only offering me either consignment, or a smaller value credited immediately as a gift card to use against one of their items, which I’m not interested in. I did wonder about how long it might take to sell, I’ve noticed their prices are high! I’ll have to give it some thought!

Hi,
I have sold with them on consignment, very happy with the price i got and my bag sold within 2 weeks. I currently have another Chanel with them. No problems and got a far better price than selling to somewhere like Designer Exchange.
Would be interested to know what they said about if your item doesnt sell, what the rules are.

Thank you for your reply. That's good to hear about your positive experience with them. I wasn't impressed with Designer Exchange's offer at all. I asked them for a quote for a limited edition wallet too, which cost £600 new last year and is in pristine, barely used condition. They offered £125. :annoyed: Xupes' offer for my Pochette Accessoires is extremely generous, and even with their 30% fee deducted, it would leave me with an impressive profit compared to what I would be likely to sell it for on the likes of eBay.

I heard back from them (great customer service, they seem to respond very quickly) and they've assured me that I can cancel the agreement at any time and they will arrange for my item to be sent back to me free of charge. They also said that if the item hasn't sold within six months, they will review the price and ask me for my authorisation to lower it if they think it will be more likely to sell.

I'm not desperate for the money right away, and I'm not using the item, so I'm thinking about trying it. My main concern was that I would have to send it off and not receive anything for it, potentially for months, but it seems like they're reputable.

I’ve both purchased, sold directly and consigned through Xupes. 100% trustworthy in my opinion. Customer service is great!
Regarding the 35 days for your money to come through, that’s to allow for their returns policy. Buyers have 30 days I think (but I’d have to check).
Honestly with a high priced item it is well worth not having the stress of a potential issue with a dodgy buyer through eBay or the 180 (again I think!) days for a paypal claim. Their prices are higher but they have the confidence of the buyer unlike eBay so some people at least are more likely to purchase through them.
In my case of the consigned item it was the birkin in my avatar, I can’t remember exactly how long it took to sell but no more than two months certainly and a hell of a lot less stress than previous eBay sales I’ve had so well worth the money. Also I’ve posted two Birkins to them in the past, Royal Mail next day special delivery to the maximum amount and their insurance covered the excess. No problems at all!

That's great to hear, thank you!

I agree. Selling privately through eBay is definitely not worth the stress when it comes to big ticket items.

I have bought from them for years, incredibly professional and knowledgable staff. You will be in safe hands
