Mine wasn't soft, but wasn't stiff, either. I hope that makes sense. It is much softer now, though. Here is a pic of it sitting down. It flops over now, when sitting down.

Op.... Once the Arsty is broken in, IMO, it's super comfy. My only complaint would be the strap drop. I wish it was a couple inches longer.

I want an Artsy so bad, but I am nervous that I will wear it on my shoulder a lot and will end up with the cracked canvas along the top edging. Too bad...it's such a GORGEOUS bag!!!

This is my concern. I bought one today but the salesperson said it wasn't meant for shoulders because of cracking! But I see people wearing them on their shoulder.

Mine is 2 years old and broken in well. It has a nice patina and it folds in half when I set it down (that annoys me, actually). This isn't the best pic, but here you go.
