Anyone ever had a loved-one made into a diamond?

I've heard of this before; I told DH that my rear end is so big, a full parure of diamond jewelry could be made! :

Seriously, has anyone done this? If so, could you tell me of your experiences? I'm thinking of getting my cats' ashes made into diamonds. Miss Jasmine would just ADORE that! (I would, of course, buy the princess cut for her.)

I actually think it's a nice idea but I'd be too afraid too lose the diamond. What if you lose it or it gets stolen? Even if it's insured, you cannot really replace it.

I've heard it was a scam... and you can't guarantee they actually use those ashes. they also don't let anyone see their facilities or have pictures up of their machines, so nobody knows if it's legit.

I looked into this after my dad passed away suddenly earlier this year. I think I was just desperate to feel like I had DONE something to honor his memory. I eventually adjusted my thinking and decided that if it was something that he and I had never discussed, it would be disrespectful for me to do this with his remains. I think it's nice if you discuss it with the person ahead of time and agree together, though.
