A friend of mine just bought this watch and she said it was zenith. I've never heard of this brand and it cost quite much. Can anybody tell me the quality of this watch and why it cost so much? i love her watch though it was really pretty.
I've never heard of them, but I just found their website and they look lovely. No prices are listed there, but I'm interested in knowing more about them too.
They're pretty established in the watch world with the "el primero" mechanical movement being their best and a classic (which they make in house)- as it's very very accurate. They run anywhere from a couple thousand for a starter quartz to 20k+ for a 18k gold bracelet automatic movement. I believe they're less popular now than they were in previous decades.
I researched Zenith a year ago when DH was interested in their watches.
Zenith have been making watches since 1865.
They created El Primero movement,a truly wondrous movement that requires a total of nine months work, involves between five and fifty separate operations per part, some fifty milling procedures at different points on the dial side and 77 milling procedures on the bridges side. More than eighteen different metals are used to make one movement, combined with the devotion of more than twenty specialist watchmakers dedicated to their daily work. Such complexity as found in El Primero, the movement created by ZENITH, must surely have a soul.
They made a huge come back in the past couple of years especially with the DEFY XTREME men's watch
