I need to resize my ER, and want to know if anyone can recommend a skilled jeweler in Detroit suburb area??? My ring is done by Leon Mege inc, and I don't want to take it to some jewelers I don't know and more than likely end up getting messed up.

I know ideally I should send it back to Leon, but I don't want to ship back and forth again considering the insurance problems and all.

I know it is a hassle, but I would really advise you to send it back to Leon. You will have the piece of mind that it will be done right and nothing switched and that is definitely worth the hassle. I have tried too many times to go the cheaper (because of shipping insurance cost) or easier (convenience of location and/ or turn around time) route and it has always cost me more time and money in the end. Just save yourself the headache and do it right the first time. I am not familiar with Leon, but maybe they have a suggestion or a blanket policy that would make shipping it back to them easier. I am sure that there are qualified local jewelers who could do it, but it seems like you would really need to spend some serious time checking them out before entrusting them with your e-ring. This is just my opinion but I have had one too many bad experiences with 'recommended' jewelers and I would not want to risk it with your precious e-ring, KWIM?

I agree. I would not let anyone other than Leon do it. Especially with the detail in your ring and how the side stones are done. You REALLY don't want to have to pay two times if someone botches this creation, once for the botched work, and again for him to redo it, or even remake it, after it's botched.

Hey thanks ladies! I've completely forgotten about this thread....LOL.

Well, I took it to one of the local "well recommended" jeweler and asked about resizing it. He saw my ring and asked if my center stone is CZ!! So I said, no it's not but he kept saying "r u sure, it looks a lot like CZ", so I got scared thinking maybe it got swapped during the shipping (highly unlikely, since my center stone is AVC, you can't find the CZ looks just like that in the same carat size unless you know exactly what I have beforehand...), so I asked him to check it out. And he came back and said it is a diamond, but again kept saying it looks like CZ, which really pissed me off!

Anyway I contacted Leon about size issue, and he was very generous to resize the ring as soon as he returned from vacation and also told me not to let other jeweler touch the ring.... So it is at the Leon's right now and waiting to be resized.

I am glad to hear it is with Leon too! I was more than a little suspicious when a jeweler in the MI area posted to this thread and of course recommended themselves, that is why I posted what I did above. But, it looks like our great mods have taken care of that. Thanks to whomever caught that!

And I know it is a pain to wait, but at least you can rest easy that it will be done right and it is safe. That "jeweler" who kept asking if it was a cz would have really creeped me out, but it just goes to show how much research you really need to do to find a good one and to start by entrusting someone with such a special and intricute piece would be scary to say the least!

WOW, I didn't even see the post. Thanks for the warning though!

Leon is GREAT, he resized my ring on the day he received and shipped it out next day! So it was gone only for 3 days or so. If this is not a spectacular customer service, i don't know what is!!

AVC is an abbreviation for August Vintage Cushion, which is a proprietary Diamond cut that is owned and produced and sold exclusively by Good Old Gold. They have a round version also. Both are beautiful. I got to see them in person when we went out there to choose my replacement e-ring.
