I haven't seen a thread on this topic so I thought I'd start one. I'm a huge reader and lately I always like to have my book with me. In case going out includes stopping for coffee or a quiet place where I can take out my book and read. And I mean the real book no kindle or e-reader. :)

I'm curious if there are others out there like me? What's your favorite handbag that fits your essentials and your book? This is why the mini bag trend never worked for my lifestyle. I need to be able bring my book for most day outings!

I read constantly, but on the Kindle. Is this really limited to paper books?

If not, the Kindle fits in the Evelyne TPM, and I am currently reading two books, Philip Pullman's Amber Spyglass (third book in His Dark Materials, I know I am super late on this series) and a book about bioluminescence and deep sea life by Dr. Edith Widder called Below the Edge of Darkness.

The Kindle is super convenient for sure! I just love physical books!

Currently I'm all about my Goyard Artois so I can carry my book :). My Mansur Gavriel large bucket is a good option too.

The Hermes Christine looks great! I've contemplated getting a larger sized Evelyne, looks like it could hold a book.

Loving the book recommendations too! I'm a huge fan of Frederik Backman these days, and would recommend anything by him!

Hello, this is a great idea for a thread! I usually take my Kindle when out and about. I need the ability to adjust the font size. I use my old faithful leather purse by Fossil that I've worn the edging off of and I'm currently reading the latest Outlander book by Diana Gabaldon, "Go Tell the Bees that I am Gone".

I take my iPad (kindle app) everywhere. My favorite guilty pleasure read is anything by ilona Andrews, a husband and wife teamwhose blog has also helped me find other recommendations, like great tea.

for the iPad in the size I prefer I need an Evelyn pm or medium sized kelly (it can theoretically fit into kelly retourne 28, but it’s a bit tight. I definitely do not like it in a sellier 28. So it’s safest in K32 or Birkin 30. But I also throw my iPad into 35 Trim IIs or into BV hobos; Goyard St Louis Pm. Don’t remember if it fits into my Victoria 35s, but I assume it would

DH uses the larger iPad and that fits into the Evelyne sellier GM or analogous ghurka

What a great thread! I still love physical books too. All my purses have to be big enough to fit a paperback in them. I really like purses that have both a large zipped compartment and a large open compartment. I put my book, coupons, hand wipes, keys in the open section and everything else in the zipped part. Currently reading David Baldacci's Walk the Wire. Edit to add my current purse is a few years old. It's the BOC Danford Satchel. Has 3 large compartments, 2 have zippers. All 3 are big enough to hold a book.

I am never without a book and still saying NEVER to a kindle. My answer to your question is the daunt bookstore book tote as in my profile picture. It’s not too bulky, made from thick cotton and fits a ton. I carry 0.75 litre water bottle, a book, and essentials in it. But it’s not a handbag.

Not sure if it qualifies as handbag but Hermes Double Sens 45 seems to work equally well but heavier. Another alternative I love is BV classic hobo in Maxi.

I received Hermes K32 during COVID so it’s not been put into test yet but I selected that size as all my bags must be able to carry a book, even a thin one.

Currently reading the old ' I don’t know how she does it '.

Thanks for the fun thread!

Well, I love both my Kindle app and my real books (with all those turnable pages and that glorious smell). Right now, I'm beginning "Overstory" by Richard Powers. It came highly recommended and fits beautifully in my aforementioned Hermès Christine, as does my iPad with its oh-so-handy app.

David and Salman will just have to take the backseat for a while. This book has started off splendidly.
