Sharing a couple pics of some earrings that were just delivered because I'm so excited! They are 22k with opaque colored diamonds, faceted and polished. I love the natural beauty of opaque diamonds and they still have major sparkle.

I bought them to go with a 18k opaque diamond necklace I already had. With the range of colors they pull in my gold bangle and my 18k black diamond Mimi So bangle (I hadn't expected that so it's a nice go with surprise.)

I've been paring down my jewelry to a few key sets that are very much my style. The 24k gold bangle is handcrafted by my local jeweler (love her) who melted down some super ugly old stuff I had~I love that we recycled the gold. Both necklace and earrings are from two jewelry makers I've gotten to know on eBay. That I know the designers makes the pieces more special too.

Thanks re the jewelry. Still photos can't do the stones justice--they twinkle mightily. Opaque diamonds are a lot of fun because they have organic beauty and a LOT of sparkle. I was wearing the necklace a couple weeks ago at an auto show DH wanted to attend. A rep was giving him technical info he was requesting but her eyes kept wandering over to me. Finally she just stopped and said, "Excuse me, but what is that necklace made out of? It's so sparkly!"

I highly recommend the designer, Carolyn Ehret, as jewelry resource. She's reknowned for her south sea pearl expertise. Her prices are very, very good and her designs are cool. http://shop.ebay.com/merchant/druzyd...Q_fromZQQ_mdoZ Callire mentions her in the pearl rant thread.

I hope you don't mind if I ask, were the rough cut diamonds expensive? I am quite enamoured with organic diamonds too. I came across the brands A Diamond in the Rough and Todd Reed but the prices were too prohibitive, almost as expensive as the usual diamonds.

^^^^ Very pretty!

But I have found the same pricing issues that Eve mentions. They are not graded nor do they come with certs. Don't expect us to want to pay as if they do.

Maybe they are becoming more realistic in tough times.

for druzy designs-- she has pearl strands, but are they necklaces with clasps or are they just a strand of pearls with no clasp used for other custom design work?

Both. You can buy loose pearls from her, plus different strands. Druzy is also one of the only sellers of Cortez pearls in the US. She's amazing! I've ordered from her twice and I've been really happy with my pearls!

Oh, adoptastray, I shouldn't have peeked in this thread. Your opaque diamonds are beautiful, and druzydesign has kasumi pearls! Ah, more temptation...

*annoyingly sticks head into conversation* If you're looking for kasumi, kojimapearl.com has some AMAZING pearls. Plus, they'll string any of their loose pearls into a necklace for $25. *slinks away* (I'm done! I'm done!)

evekitti and vegas long legs, I COMPLETELY agree that the prices of Diamond in the Rough and Todd Reed are prohibitive. I will confess to honing what I wanted style wise by looking at Neiman's jewelry displays.

The earrings were $600 and I used the live.com / ebay promo to get 10% cash back.

The necklace is from a small family owned jewelry firm in Washington state. I searched A LONG time for the right kind of brilolette necklace at a good price. Through ebay and google searching I found http://www.silverrosebeads.com/Store/Tab.aspx?sck=7874637&tabid=1

Some where on their site, they mention their skill in wire wrapping work. Boy is that the case! The way my diamond necklace is assembled rivals and in some cases surpasses work I've seen at the high end jewerly counters.

My particular necklace is 32 carats total weight. It was priced at $2000 but they listed it on ebay at the holidays with the best offer option and accepted $1700. One of the best jewelry purchases I've ever made. People are drawn to that necklace whenever I wear it.

Some necklaces silverrosebeads has now.

10 carats of grey diamonds for for $580

22 carats of grey diamonds for $1040
http://www.silverrosebeads.com/Item...tural DIAMOND & 18K White GOLD NECKLACE 10098

And a STUNNING red diamond strand for $3860. I can only imagine what Diamond in the Rough would price this one at...

Melissa Joy Manning also does jewelry with raw diamonds. She does have pieces at much more accessible price points.

dmitchell15: Not that I'm aware of. Kojimapearls has pretty good prices though and some stuff of it is a STEAL. Plus, the $25 stringing fee is amazing! You could email and ask about prices too... Maybe they'll budge if the piece has been up for a long time.

Mid- Me too! I like to look and stare.

Thanks for sticking your head in Callire--no need to slink! I love all the sites you point me to and your AWESOME pearl info thread.

Thanks! :sneaky: I sometimes have to reign in my enthusiasm.
