Hi all! New member here, looking for some vintage expertise! LV fans will recognize The French Company (sometimes referred to as The French Luggage Company) out of Covina, CA. They made primarily luggage and became best known for holding the only (legitimate) license from LV to make LV bags in the US from the 70s to about the 90s (til the LV merger). French Co. tapestry luggage also shows up in vintage markets. But can anyone offer experience or info about their non-LV leather handbags? Or the company history? I’ve seen a few leather bags in thrifting and searched exhaustively for any info — and can’t find anything! Really appreciate any discussion. Thanks!

I have several pieces. Just traveled to London for a month with the luggage. Was so vintage, I had to have wheels installed.

So lovely!! How did you come by them? Have you ever seen leather goods by French? I’m considering going back for a pretty red leather medium satchel handbag. But it needs some restoration and the price is a bit high. I can find only one single (non LV) piece out on the web to compare and no company info.
