Any idea how to take care of a Moynat tote bag?

Hello there,

I recently got a Moynat classic tote bag (I think it's called Oh! Tote or something) in medium size online (Can't find a place selling Moynat near my place). Love the low-key design and the size! Wanted a Goyard originally, but doesn't really like its sloppy look (I know it's a thing) nor the size option (either too big or too small for my need).

Now I know that just like Goyard, Moynat is not made of leather but some specially coated converse or something (but I might be wrong). So just wondering, how should I care for it exactly? Can I spray leather protection over it? or just leave it as it is?

Also, I am not sure if I should just follow the Goyard thread, as I am not sure whether they are made from the same materials or procedures. Moynat feels much sturdier and more structured than Goya though...

The pic is the one I got. Thanks for any input in advance!

Great bag Congrats! I haven’t gotten a Moynat yet, but am thinking of a Gabrielle. I’ve heard that Moynat is similar to Goyard St. Louis, and I’ve had a few St. Louis bags. I freely use mine; travel with them; don’t treat mine with special care; and the coated canvas has held up well. I’m also one of the lucky ones who have no issues with Goyard straps, stitching or edge coating or cracking. If Moynat recommends treating your bag with anything, it should be in the care instructions. Otherwise, just use and enjoy! Hope to see some actions pics soon!

Just got mine last weekend too.

I did ask my SA whether there's a need to apply leather protection but she said no. (I attached the balm I used for my other leather bags)
She told me it's basically a maintenance free bag for the outer part.
Since the lining is Cotton & Linen, she said can apply some soap on a toothbrush and gently brush it in case it's dirty.
Oh! Tote interior is white in color (Except for special editions). Brighter color tends to get dirtier easier compare to the darker color.

Oh ya, my SA told me that mine (Indigo/Bronze/Cognac) is a special edition. Thus the lining is red.

Don’t use any lotions/treatments on a Moynat bag. If you have one that needs TLC bring it to the boutique (or email Paris) for after-sales service.

Their canvas is quite different than Goyard but wears quite well and should just wipe off (exterior) with a damp cloth if it gets something on it. I have a frequently carried canvas bag that still looks great after >7 years (I am careful with bags but don’t “baby” them).

Thanks! This is good to know. I have been using my Moynat for a while now and don't baby it. It also feels weird to baby this bag as it just feels so sturdy and low maintenance. . . So far, I just use baby wipes on it if I had to pretend to be cool and 'casually' put it on the floor (indoors of course). So far so good. Would love to know your opinions on Gabrielle if you do get one

I do really like this bag. The size is just perfect. And somehow low key. Hope it holds up for years to come.Cheers.

Thanks a lot! Very helpful info. Good to know that it is indeed care-free :) Yours looks gorge!Love the red interior. Yes, my interior is creamy colour (not exact white, more like beige). I have been using a bag organiser since I got it, just to help me find stuff and also protect the interior from my stationery hazard (I am a fountain pen person ...)

I have found Moynat bags online at 24s.
