i have the pegase 60 in monocanvas - it is carry on, and I honestly bought it so i could look cool rolling my bag around the airport and straight on to first class . . ..
I have used it for car travel as well. I would not check it though i know some folks do.
you might want to go for a LV that you can use in the car, and use cheaper luggage for air.
Remember, LV started as luggage/trunks so I feel this was a purchase in salute to the company's beginnings and a testiment to quality.
