I know that Anthracite is "gray-almost black-green undertones" but is it a metallic? I remember reading that somewhere but I can't recall for sure.

It's not being billed as a metallic...so I don't think it is. Right now, it's a big mystery as to what this will actually look like. 
i know other designer "anthracite"s have looked a bit on the metallic side (paddington, muse, etc) but i believe the balenciaga color is going to be more black. at least judging from early pics.

in all the swatches i've seen, it appears predominately black-grey with the green/blue undertones (depending on the swatch). wow, i'm as clear as mud! metallic? oh geez...i hadn't noticed a real metallic quality to it, just the sheen of the black-grey that would go along with a color named after a shiny type of coal. i've preordered an anthracite bowling, so i guess i'll just have to wait for the surprise soon to be on its way from balNY!
