Another burgundy but new style to me?

Hi!

I have the 18C burgundy classic flap and I’ve always wanted to add a more casual/less dressy burgundy bag.

My journey started with the 19B studded leather small dueville bag which I ended up returning. The color was just too dark. I don’t really need the space but was just looking for a casual looking bag mainly for daytime/work.

A few days later, My SA showed me the burgundy 20K coco handle. It looked dark on her screen and I didn’t like that, but thought let’s wait and see. Meanwhile, I was heavily researching the coco handle. I still don’t really feel sure about it. Mainly the size. I want to carry it mainly on the shoulder and prefer the look of the small/medium size which has a longer strap drop that I don’t think is very flattering on the shoulder (I’m 5”3-5”4). The mini has a perfect shoulder strap drop but I can’t help but feel that it’s too minature? Don’t shoot me lol I know it’s very popular! I’m not against minis in general and in fact the mini coco handle is close in size to the medium CF and old medium boy which are my favorites but something about the mini coco handle makes me unsure..

I wish the straps of mini and small coco handle are swabbed lol!

While researching, I came across the 19B burgundy boy bag:
1- I know for sure I love the style I already have 2!
2- Looks great casually and perfect for the less dressy times as an alternative to the classic flap (I don’t mind the shiny gold hardware lol).
3- The perfect shade!
In short, I am extremely happy with it



Today, my SA texted me a photo of the 20K coco handle... and all my thoughts are a mess again lol I still love my boy bag and would never trade it but bow I’m thinking if I should also get the coco handle?

I want to mention that I’m a bit worried about coco handle corner wear..

I don’t know if after this novel (with lots of rambling about the coco handle) I wonder if it even makes sense to ask for advice?

I love the color, it’s stunning and that’s what tempted me...

Please share some wise comment to talk me out of it.... or to enable me whatever you think..

It sounds to me like you want the classic flap but a word to the wise. Burgundy is one of my all time favourite colours and I straight don’t like this season’s burgundy (no offence to those who have it). You really need to see it IRL. I’ve seen some SLGs and it has brown undertones rather than rich red. But others love it so beauty really is in the eye of the beholder. I would try and see a classic flap before you buy if possible. Good luck

I already have a burgundy medium CF with antique gold hardware (18C).. but you right, if it was a classic flap or even a boy bag that is in question, I would not hesitate at all... I will still visit the boutique and see the coco handle in person... who knows???

It sounds to me like you’re trying to convince yourself to buy it versus the other way around. I love my CH but maybe it’s not the bag for you. You have a beautiful collection and have some great burgundy bags already.

Your medium burghundy is much more beautiful . So I dont think the coco is adding anything special to ypur beautiful collection.
I used to have a coco handle in metallic bronze. The corners showed serious wear while only sitting in my closet. But it was metallic so maybe that was the reason why..
Good luck deciding.

I visited the boutique and took a look.. the coco handle is beautiful but I don’t feel it’s a must for me..
The strap drops of the old medium boy bag and the small/medium coco handle are very close, the coco handle maybe 1 inch longer but because the coco handle is taller it hangs lower which I don’t like. I know it’s suitable for crossbody but I want it primarily as a shoulder bag..
The second photo shows colors more accurately..

I know what you mean about it not adding much to my collection.. I’m thinking: if I want a dressy burgundy bag I have my classic flap and if I want a less dressy one I have my boy bag, the coco handle in this color might be redundant. I am concerned about the corners, I’ve seen many worn ones on the preloved market.

As you said, the color is redundant. The bag is too pricey to be talked in to. You love your other bags so much, I just don't feel that when you're talking about the handle. You already own bags you love, don't go for less.
