Oh my.
I've got this very vintage Celine shoulder back (no idea what it's called). It's brown suede with a purple suede flower. Yesterday, I threw in a new bottle of hair product without securing the screw top. It leaked all the way through. When I saw it, I whipped out the Lincoln Suede Cleaner and the soft suede brush and pretty much soaked the whole bag. I know you're supposed to use the foam after shaking it, but I just poured it on and scrubbed the whole bag.
I worked on one side at my bathroom sink. I flipped the bag over, only to see makeup drops (obviously, there were drops of makeup on the sink and I didn't notice it).
Are you keeping up with the math here? I saw the makeup when I flipped it over, so now the wet side was resting on the makeup spill. So now, there's makeup drips everywhere, both sides and on the flower, and a big round spill of hair product, and the whole dang thing is soaking wet in Lincoln (I was told to take care to not make the suede too wet, but we were way beyond that).
I blotted it with a white bath towel and hung it up to dry overnight. It was still pretty wet a few hours after the disaster.
This morning, it was dry, but the nap was completely flattened out and it felt horrible. I could still see the makeup drops.
I had to get to work, but during my coffee break (which you KNOW I took today!) I got out the nylon suede brush and gave it a little hair brushing.
Et voila! She looks great!
I mean, great like a very vintage suede bag that has had plenty of accidents along the way great, but certainly better than it's looked since I purchased it pre-and deeply-loved. The little dark spots you see were there before.
I was afraid soaking it in Lincoln might be the last straw for this bag, but nope. She is more usable now than she was before the accident. I cannot even see where the makeup drops were.
Don't try this at home, but if you ever have a suede disaster and resort to this madness, let me know how it goes!
