I stopped at the Coach Boutique last night to return a gift I had received. It was a nice gift and a lovely little bag but not my style. Unfortunately I didn't have a receipt and was merely hoping for a merchandise credit for the lowest amount listed in the Coach computer. I figured that I could use the merchandise credit at the outlet later, perhaps during the "after the holiday" sales.

But the SA told me that the bag was out of inventory and she wasn't able issue a merchandise credit, darn! But then she said that she could "give me a product exchange"! She could apply the full, retail value of the returned bag ($225) toward a new product if I wanted to buy something new? Well, that put a whole new slant on the situation!

What would you have done in my place? At the very least I could certainly find something I liked for $255 in that store. Plus there is a great Coach Holiday Sale going on right now and they had a room full of lovely sale bags - as well as other rooms full of beautiful new bags. And I also had a $150 merchandise credit that has been burning a hole in my wallet for months - I got it for sending a defective product back to JAX.

I think that most of you would have done exactly the same thing that I did - I bought myself a lovely new bag, and what's better - I got it for a great price!

Here are the teaser pics, any guesses about what I bought for myself? I'll give you a hint, it is one of the items currently discounted for the Coach Holiday Sale.

I second that, a Rogue.

You guessed it! I got the Rogue with Whipstitch Handle in Dark Turquoise with Black Copper hardware. The style number is 58116 BP MIW. The retail price was $850 but it was reduced to $510 for the holiday sale.

After the SA applied the $225 credit for the gift bag that I was returning, the price came down to $285. When I added in the $150 merchandise credit I had gotten for the defective item, the remaining balance was only $135 plus tax. I was very happy to hand over my credit card to pay that amount and walked out with this beautiful new bag! Isn't it gorgeous?

Love your new Rogue, katev! It's really pretty. You certainly did well with your credits to buy your beautiful new bag! That must have been fun watching the deductions. That's my favourite kind of math!!

I thought the wrapping was very enticing. The ribbon and tag are beautiful.

Thanks, it was fun! And yes, it was beautifully wrapped and that really made it feel like a gift to myself! I am going to hang the gold-sparkled carriage on my tree!

Wow! What a gorgeous deal you got!

Thanks, and you know that I love those Coach pendants!

I really love this bag but I am a little worried that it is too similar to my Dark Denim Rogue. The bags are similar and this one is blue/green - and sometimes it looks blue - depending on the lighting.

I looked at a lot of other bags last night - mercers, bandits, saddlebags, drifters, carryalls, rogues, tea-rose decorated bags, and more - but I kept coming back to this one.

I probably should have gotten the melon rogue because it is very different from my dark denim and it would have been nice for Spring. They also had the saddle-colored suede rogue with oxblood trim - but I liked this bag best, but it kind of fills the same spot in my purse wardrobe as the dark denim.

Congrats katev! You picked a beautiful Rogue. I love all the mixed leathers and the color is gorgeous. Plus you got it at an excellent price. Enjoy your new bag.

Thank you! I do love the color and the detailing on this bag - the whipstitch handles and fringe, the black trim and shoulder straps, the turquoise suede side panels, the black hardware, and the saddle-colored suede interior - it's so pretty!

I really wish that we still had access to the Coach Drill Down pictures, but here are some copies of the Coach website info and photos for my lovely new bag:
