Hi ladies,

Where can i send my diamond to authenticate whether it is a real diamond? If the diamond comes with an AGS cert, does it means it its a real diamond or can it be a moisanite? I recently paid and custom ordered a diamond but after looking at it, I seriously think the stone is not a diamond! I could tell from the way the stone 'sparkles', light seems to bevreflecting off the stone like a moisanite does. I do not know how to describe it but the whole stone looks off to me and as this is a custom order I could not reject the stone. I feel like sending the stone to a place where i can have it authenticate. Pls help me! I am feeling so angry and helpless now.

Take it to an AGS member jeweler and they can test it for starters. Under a scope alone, a Moissanite will not be the same crystal structure as a diamond, and they'll tell the difference. But there are testing devices that can tell the difference.

If it has an AGS report, bring the report with you so they can confirm the stone in question matches the report.

Hi Ame, thank you so much for your reply! If I don't send the ring to ags, how do i see the structure of the diamond under the scope? Under what magnification? There are supposed to be a bit of feather, crystal but the jeweller could not even find the inclusions to show me. I should have insisted i wanted to see those inclusions.

What kind of jeweler couldn't match the stone's inclusions to the plot?

I am not suggesting you send the loose stone to AGS. Just find a jeweler that has an AGS member jeweler. But you could get the stone unmounted and sent in for grading if you wanted. Labs only grade unmounted stones.
