Hi Ladies

I have just ordered this lovely diamond (se pics for specs ) but after reading further I am beginng to get anxious.

It is a modified brilliant cut cushion and while I don't dislike the crushed ice look I am afraid to get a stone that looks watery and leaks light under the table.

I am just being paranoid?

You cannot buy a cushion on numbers. You really need photos of the actual stone. Did it ship yet? If not, you can risk seeing it in person, or cancel it and buy from a seller that offers the images of the stone.

Blue Nile is not the seller I'd buy a cushion from. A round, maybe, but not a fancy. You have to see these things, and they do not offer photos on the site. That is their biggest downfall.

Look at sites like James Allen, Good Old Gold, Brilliantly Engaged. (The latter two are killer for cushions.) You DO NOT want to gamble on something you cannot see before buying.

Ah I see. I am based in Denmark so it is impossible for me to se it in person as the local vendor have sky high prices.
Bluenile don't have pictures of this actual stone on stock. While I don't mind buying online the sites you ar refering to are all based in USA in which case I would have to add 35-40% in vat.
I might just go with this stone and if it disapoints I have 30 days to return it.

Blue Nile never has photos of the actual stones in stock, and that's a big part of the problem with that company, IMO. I assume you bought from the UK outpost of BN?

I understand not wanting to buy from the US, due to VAT, but that is one way to avoid issues, simply because they offer the images up front. You won't have to worry about shipping and returning back and forth.

If you get it and are not happy you can return. However, this seems a bit deep, and has a thicker girdle than I'd otherwise recommend. You also can go down to a VS1 clarity and not see any inclusions, so perhaps before you buy this, consider a few others?

How will that reflect the stone? I must add that I am spending my max budget and was actually ok with only getting a medium good/ok stone. But is this actually a bad stone?

Won't know til you get it. But a thick girdle takes away the diameter and you pay for a visually smaller stone than you should be getting for that carat weight.

Clarity wise, you could get a much larger stone if you get a VS1 vs an IF. You're paying for a clarity difference you would never see if you held a VS1 next to an IF.
