I'm confused. Please tell me if I'm getting the run-around. I've walked into my Hermes store (NJ) a few times, and expressed my interest in the gold 30 cm birkin and etoupe 30 cm birkin. The SA wrote my wishlist on the top corner of a correspondence card and told me it's not very likely that these bags will become available. She didn't formally input me into any system. Is this a podium order? I never got any letters in the mail. I've done business with this SA before (purchased a few belts), so I would hope she would try her best for me.

I feel like I don't matter! The SA and manager both told me that there is ABSOLUTELY no way to place an order for a Birkin. ANY HELP IN OBTAINING MY DREAM BAG WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

They probabily took your details down so if a bag becomes available (ie a bag that has been spoken for, but the client turns it down) then they will give you a call. It is not a podium order as it wasn't ordered for you. In another words, you are just waiting for someone to turn down their bag.

pinkchampagne, do you have any friends that have very good history with their SAs? If so, ask them to put in a request for you and when it comes in, that friend should call you and you go and get it. This really works. I did it for someone and she's now a very happy birkin owner. Sometimes two heads are better than one.

That's a complete BS. It is possible to place an order for a Birkin. Maybe the SA and the manager were trying to give you a hint that you have to spend more before they can offer you a Birkin.

Podium order is when the store managers go to Paris to place order on items for the store's inventory. It usually happens twice in a year.

further is that these bags are not difficult to obtain: "gold 30 cm birkin and etoupe 30 cm birkin."

I'm really getting fed up with this store. I'm going to try the Madison Ave & Wall Street Hermes in NYC this week. Does anyone have any good SA at either of those locations? I think the SA are put off by my age (I'm 27, but look younger), but I can clearly afford luxury items. I don't think they're taking me seriously for that fact alone.

Should I try with this SA one last time and specifically ask for a podium order or move on to a more helpful store?

If you just go to another store to ask for a podium order. I afraid you will get the same answer as "there is ABSOLUTELY no way to place an order for a Birkin". Podium orders are usually only offered to each store's regulars.
If your SA is not trying hard to get the bag for you. Maybe she feels you don't spend enough in their store, she wants you to buy more than a few belts. Maybe you should try to build a relationship with another store. It is not likely a new store will just offer you a birkin from the get go. Unless the birkins are just on display.
NY stores seem to have very good inventory. maybe you will find one just on the shelve there. good luck

If you are not happy with the store, don't buy from them. I wouldn't want to give my sales to a shop that I don't like either, no matter how much I want to buy the item.

The reality is, it's not easy to get a certain Birkin combination from a shop if they are not familiar with you (but then again you might get lucky). Maybe just bite the bullet and pay $1k or $2k more and get a brand new one from reputable reseller? Considering your order is 'easy' to get for them (not exotic or hard to find leather/colour), maybe they won't mark up the price so much?
I think extra $1k/$2k is better than all the hassle of running around trying to 'build relationship' and buying stuffs that you don't actually want.

The drawback if you move on to another store is that you'll probably get the same answer from them. On top of that, you have to start everything all over again. It can get pretty frustrating.

In my part of the world, no walk-in customers will be able to buy Kellys/Birkins just like that. I had to build-up my relationship with a particular store for quite some time before I could get hold of a Birkin. Even a Kelly is so hard to get here unless you are a regular. It's not that the store doesn't want to sell Kellys/Birkins to customers. It's because the quota here is so limited that the stores have to choose to whom they can sell these bags. Of course the priority will go to customers who spend regularly at the stores.

There is a saying 'Good things come to those who wait'. Just be patient and increase your purchases gradually at this store. I am sure you will get your Birkin eventually.

Good luck!

I would say try other stores too...!! In Las Vegas you don't have to be regular!! Many found there the one that were looking for!
Gold or Etoupe are easy colours to be found!! Don't give up and from my experience you need to go frecuently to Hermes boutiques (and not spend a lot of money there too...), eventually will find the one you want!!

I agree with you that I don't want to buy things that I don't want. I really have no desire to buy a scarf or H bracelet. They just don't appeal to me.

Who are some reputable resellers? I'd really prefer to purchase a bag in store, though
