Hi ladies, I’m in a bit of a dilemma…

I’ve been toying with the idea of getting a medium lady Dior in a neutral color - black or navy blue.Have found a pre loved one in black, very good condition for ca. 3.5k usd (I’m based in Europe).

At the same time, couple of years ago I hesitated to get an alma PM in epi indigo - despite the rumor that PMs in colors other than black would be discontinued… which actually happened  I kicked myself over it but finally let it go and set my eyes on the lady Dior. Now I’ve also come across a 2nd hand alma pm in indigo in new like condition for 1.5k and could even negotiate the price a bit down.

both bags are being sold at reputable 2nd hand shops and come in full sets.

although I could get both, in the new post pandemic world of hybrid working and with a toddler I’m not using my bags much so it doesn’t quite make sense to suddenly add two to my collection.

I’m torn, which one would you go for?

I love the Alma BB, but the larger Alma’s don’t sing to me the same way. There is something about that shape in a small size which I love that doesn’t carry over to the larger ones. So my vote would be for the Lady Dior out of the two choices you provided if you are looking at a medium size bag . However, the sneak peak pics of the OnTheGo denim blue color coming out for Spring 22 (?) (maybe Cruise? Or Flight? I am a bit confused what is in what collection!) look amazing though for a medium size bag :heart:

Agree with Bec: Alma in Epi is imho one of the most beautiful, architectural and stylish bags, but in size BB only. In PM gives me “middle aged” vibes (sorry  am approaching 40 myself).
Between your alternatives, definitely the LD. In lambskin though is very delicate, not really for everyday.
My medium LD fits only a bit more than my Alma BB - unless I play tetris. So, if you love the Alma look, and need a sturdy everyday bag which in a dark epi color shifts well day-to-night, can go both reserved dressy and casual, i’d look at the BB. The LD is much dressier, in lamb is too delicate for everyday, could be worn casually in the eclectic shabby chic style (bit harder to pull off unless it’s in your nature or is styled very well) or in the ultramatte LD version.
Forgot to add: Alma PM doesn’t work cross-body.

The Alma in Épi is the most-Vuitton a bag can get. No matter the colour or the size. And no matter what the opponent was, I'd choose the Alma, even if the other one was Porosus Crocodile with literally solid-gold hardware.
I believe that most of us are under the spell of the deliberate Vuitton marketing that the Alma is best in size BB. It's been going on for a decade now. But that, just as all small bags are just a fashion phase, the Alma will always be a queen from Nano to GM. The houses are trying to push mini bags for a while now, since they are cheaper to produce and it's also cheaper on logistics and storage and materials, etc... but we shouldn't let that be the deciding factor.
So my vote goes for the Alma, Indigo is a stunning colour, and it's also less formal and more durable than the Dior.

I think of my alma bb in indgo as my version of the LD. I love it and don't feel like I need to baby it. The Alma design in my opinion is the best bag design ever created. Super feminine, and in epi, super durable and can be dressed up or down, suitable for any occasion.

Hi all, and thanks for your thoughtful replies! I hate babying my bags and reading all your remarks re. durability of the LD made the scale tip towards the Alma. Not the most "trendy" or "it" bag at the moment especially in the PM size, however I received the Alma today and am extremely happy with it!

I'm late to vote (and the Alma is gorgeous) but in case it helps anyone else.... Dior lambskin is surprisingly durable, nothing like Chanel lambskin. I've worn my mini Lady Dior crossbody daily for years and it still looks new. I was hugely hesitant too since I'm OCD with purses but she's fared surprisingly well.

The Dior lambskin sure looks stunning when new, but I feel one has to somewhat baby the bag as I do not like the deflated puffs or much scratches on bags, no matter how durable it is compared to Chanel. Alma, regardless of size, is LV's classic and its structure lasts forever as long as you do not overfill it. Specifically on Epi leather, with some care, it will maintain its beauty than a Lady Dior lambskin bag. If today LV makes an epi bb in emerald green with GHW, I will buy one in an instant. So if you found a colour you love for an epi, you should just get it. With a toddler as well, I think the Alma would be more carefree to use although it can be quite heavy if you carry the bag on the crook of your arm or handheld it.
