I have some earrings, the vintage Alhambra earrings, and they are so painful. They clip onto my ears and it’s an uneasy pain, along with that they stick out. I have smaller earlobes, for reference. IMG_0727.jpegWhat can be done? Im going to put an image of what I mean when i say they stick out.

@BigAkoya has several posts explaining the adjustments for the earrings in great details, you may find it helpful, I certainly did!

I have the same earrings! I am a big fan of WG, and I have the WG MOP set (e.g. earrings, bracelets, 20 motif). Love WG MOP!
Your earrings are lovely.

My ears are small as well. On top of that, my ear piercing is low, and my ear piercing opening is small, so I always have drama when I buy earrings. For me, I always need to loosen the tension, switch out to thinner posts, and use the lower hole position in the earring to raise the earring as my piercing is low.

You can read my post that @waterlily112 referenced. I also think you need to put the post in the top hole. My guess is since your earrings are new and have never been adjusted, the post is in the lower hole (standard position) which "raises" the earring position on your ear. The earrings in the photo look to be sitting too high on you; hence, you need lower them.

Read through the post and think if you need adjusting in any of the four ways VCA can adjust these earrings.
Good luck to you!

Me too! I have a set like yours, it’s my favorite stone. Im going to try what you’re saying, I don’t want to give up on these earrings. I was disappointed initially because of the pain and appearance of them, especially because I wanted to do a MTO WG 2 motif earrings, but im going to try that. Thank you so much! How long does the adjustment take when it’s sent away??

Don't give up! It may take a few tries. I have had to adjust ALL my earrings. My Lotus earrings were the most drama, those took four tries, but now they are perfect, so don't give up.

I don't live near a VCA, so I just text my SA and tell him my earrings need adjustment. He sends me a shipping label, and I ship th earrings to the boutique. It comes back to the boutique in as short as 2 weeks, but one earrring adjustment took about four weeks. My SA then ships it to me.

If you live near a VCA, there is a relatively new tool and your local VCA may have it. It's the best way to measure earring tension vs. a SA writing down the order to say "loosen tension" (what does "loosen" mean.. how much?!).

The tool is basically a jewelry micrometer that measures how much room you need between the clips. One of the times I went to NYC, I dropped by the boutique, and I brought in my earrings to measure. I actually brought in all my earrings as I'm the type that likes precision.

Customer care measured all my earrings. I have now adjusted all my earrings to have the exact same tension opening of 3.5mm! That's my magic number, and my SA wrote that down in my profile to use for any new earrings I buy.

Btw, before you go in and adjust them...
Wear then for a day or two. See if your ears are sore or if your ear piercing bleeds. Per my post, this means you need thinner posts as the thick posts are "stretching" your hole to make them hurt/bleed. My ear piercing bled. You can only tell this by wearing them for a day, so don't go to the boutique yet until you have worn your earrings and tested out what fits and what does not. Try to do all the adjustments in one shot.

Good luck!

Hi,
Happy New Year!
wow I so glad I came across your post; is the vintage earring suppose to feel some weight when you wear it? I try it on awhile back and remember liking the look as I have the MoP bracelet and pendant matching it. When I tried it on it did fit nicely but maybe bc I’m not use to the clip on style I felt the weight of the earrings. Been thinking about getting the earring recently as a way to celebrate 2024 and all the challenges I overcame but hearing so much about possible clip coming apart and stone chipping due to it come off or falling make me a little uneasy. Some mention having it soldered in the boutique.

Can you provide some insight please?

Thank you!

Hi after getting the service and wearing your earrings is it more comfortable? Does it feel more secure?

Wondering as I’m trying to decide whether or not to purchase the vintage Alhambra mop earrings.

Hope to hear from you

Hello! If you lengthen the post, do you know the length they will length to? I called VCA and they said they will length to 11.5 mm which seems to be very long and I don’t want it to stick out too much.

As for loosening the post, looks like I should go into the store to have my earlobe measured.
