Hi- i'm new to this forum. Would appreciate if you guys could give me some advice, having finally succumbed to the birkin bug. Usually, I go for BV bags. Now, i intend to purchase 2 birkin bags, one for my mum and one for myself, and want to circumvent the waiting list. My questions:

1) Is createurs de luxe a good alternative?

2) Or should i just use Michael Tonello's advice given in his book, of going to the store, drop a couple of grand and then see if i can get the bags? Currently, i'm residing in singapore but travel frequently.

thanks people!

If you wnat your bags sooner rather than later, and have no interest in Hermes Merchandise, scope out ebay for some good deals.
If you love Hermes scarves, and accessories, and would appreciate them in your collection there is nothing wrong with starting out small, and working your way up. This would help you establish a relationship with a SA... who will eventually hopefully help you with your Birkins. There is no knowing how soon, or how long it could be to get these items. You may or may not have a price increase in the time frame while you wait.

That being said, I would rather have $5K worth of accessories, than just paying $5K extra to jump a list. We all have to evaluate this for ourselves. Certainly, there have been great deals on Birkins right now. Createursdeluxe and eBoutique both seem to have bags on sale.

Let us know-- Love to see a reveal when you eventually get them!!!!!!!!!!!!

Since you travel frequently, you may just be able to buy one right off the shelf. Of the three stores I've been to, and a few I've called, they're out there more often than you think. If you're looking for something specific (pink croc for ex.), then it will probably take quite awhile, but a good neutral bag shouldn't be extremely difficult to find.

Good luck!

1) CDL is a reputable Birkins re-seller. The mark-up on their Birkins is quite high though.

2) Building-up a good relationship with a store is another option. But you have to prepare spending thousands of dollars and the wait. However, once you manage to get your first Birkin, it will be easier to get the next one.
