i'm currently undecided btw these few watches and am wondering which one would not go out of style:

a) cartier roadster ss
b) cartier tank francaise medium size
c) franck muller secret hours
d) chanel j12 in white ceramic

now if only i could get them all.. sighs....

Llyymyc, I think that either of the Cartiers are very classic styles that would last you for years. I know that ceramics are quite popular right now, but personally I wonder about their lasting power 20 + years down the road. If you're planning on having only one watch, I'd suggest a metal bracelet instead of ceramic. Please let us know what you decide!

I agree with elle. I wouldn't go with the J12 if you are looking for a long term watch. Either of the Cartier watches will stand the test of time.

I suggest you go with whatever you love best. Who cares if it goes out of style, as long as you love it? It will be your style.

Unless you worry what other people will think in 20 years, then go with what they will like.

Definitely Franck Muller Secret Hour. By the way, you are comparing watchmaker's watch Frank Muller and jewellery watch Cartier and Chanel. :confused1:

I would definitely not recommend the Chanel J12. The ceramic is delicate compared to stainless steel and can become damaged beyond repair. This watch is probably the biggest rip-off in the watch industry.

If you want a watch for its movement, then go for the Franck Muller.

I would suggest Cartier, preferably the Tank.

thanks thanks ppl.. have been busy these past few weeks... work and all... i have yet to go watch tryin.. will let you girls know what i decide to get.. but regarding what ppl have said about the chanel.. it makes sense i guess.. no offense to chanel j12 lovers out there... personally i guess either cartier or my bf suggests chopard.. but i dont really like chopard as its bit too dressy..

ps:
bagshopr what do you mean by the watch (cartier tank) is uncomfortable?

While I agree chanel J12 is a fashion watch, ceramic is actually very hard (only weaker than diamond, this is not the kind of ceramic for bowls or vases). I have a Cartier La Dona and a Chanel J12. the J12 ceramic is much more resistant to scratches (acutally no scratches at all) versus the stainless steel.

this is such a tough one. I would say get one of the cartier first and then get a franck muller next. cartier would be more timeless whereas franck muller is different and you wont see many people wearing it.
