I fell in love with a pendant similar to this one from H Stern's Iris Collection:

Couldn't find the price, then I realized I have a 14K yellow gold and diamond pendant with wavy lines that I never wear because it's designed to lay vertically when on a chain. I thought if it were mounted horizontally like the above necklace, I would wear it more often.

So I am thinking about going to a local jeweler and asking them to mount a chain to each side of the pendant (which is 1.5" x .5"), to make it into a necklace. I'll attach the pic in the next post.

Do you think the necklace would look good and lay well?

What precautions should I take in selecting the jeweler?

What kind of chain would look best?

What length of chain would be best?

Any other advice?

Here is the pendant I have. (Sorry for the bad iPad pic.)

EDIT: OK, I just played with a gold chain I had and some glue dots, and it looks like the mount locations are going to take some experimentation and thought. I may play with it in Photoshop as well, to see if there is an orientation I like.

Still would appreciate any thoughts you all might have. :smile1:

It looks to me that your pendant is three dimensional rather than flat, which may make it tricky to get it to lay well. Still, maybe your experiments will find somewhere that makes chain placement work?
