Advice on new Court Bag please

I recently bought myself a new Court Bag for Christmas and finally opened the box today. Since it's only available online, I never had a chance to see it in the store. When I opened the box, I was surprised to see that the leather on the front flap had wrinkles along the seam and corners :nogood: Is this typical?? It kind of bothers me and I'm thinking of exchanging it, but if it's typical, then I guess there's no point to exchange for another bag that may end up the same way. Thanks in advance for any input you can give!

It's not that bad, but it would bother me too. I don't recall seeing any newer Court bags in stores but I did notice a difference in the leather on some classic bags I saw at my outlet earlier this year. If you were to return it and exchange it, you might get a nicer one. It's a shame that they normally have these at stores so you can pick one out in person.

Have you considered buying an older version? Some of the classics made in the 90s and early 2000s have very nice leather. I believe it is a little thicker than the current classic leather. The thinness of the leather might be responsible for the wrinkles.

Hi Whateve, thanks for your response! I did think about buying an older version since I read it elsewhere that the leather was much nicer. I'm a little too lazy to do research on how to identify authentic coach bags online, determine in what year the bag was made, etc....however, if you know of any quick guides to these information, I'd gladly look into them :smile1: The main reason I bought a new one was because I got a gift card from my in-laws for my birthday, and so far only the court bag has caught my eye.

It is really hard to authenticate bags yourself just by looking at guides. There are some very good fakes that might fool a casual observer. Counterfeiters may read the guides sometimes. You can start with these guides: http://search.reviews.ebay.com/members/salearea_W0QQcpnameZmembersQQprZsaleareaQQuqtZg
but it is a good idea to have any bag you are interested in authenticated. We can do it for you here on the forum in the authenticate thread here: http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-shopping/authenticate-this-coach-889527.html

I would exchange it. My classic ramblers legacy flap has no bunching like that, but I think the angles are a little less sharp. The pocket and body have a little bit of that, not as much as yours, and those parts are designed to be filled anyway. I would try again.

a friend of mine recently bought one and returned it promptly. Neither of us were impressed by the leather on it, it almost felt a little plastic-esque? What are your thoughts on the leather? and yes the wrinkles would bother me too.

I would agree the leather feels plastic-y. I was at my best friend's place tonight and just realized she has a court bag too! It's an older model and a hand-me-down from another family member, but when I felt the leather, it is so much softer and thicker. I did notice the bag is quite heavier too. Anyway, I'm going to exchange mine and hope the new one turns out better. If not, I may consider finding a pre-loved one, and use my gift card for some other things.
