Advice On Finding A Vintage Birkin?

Hello, lovely TPF-ers!

So, I think it would be nice to have a vintage Birkin from the year of my birth. I've already saved a search on eBay for "19XX Hermes Birkin", but beyond that, I really don't know where else to look.

My search is rather impeded by the fact that not all (or even most, it seems) sellers list the year in which the Birkin was made. Some take pictures of the date stamp, and/or list the letter, but I think you can see the difficult in searching for single letters. ;) Others don't even do that, which would mean I'd have to chase the seller down to ask for pictures - assuming the listing is even legitimate in the first place. And the list of difficulties goes on ...

Any advice or suggestions?

FYI, I'm not in any sort of hurry for this bag to materialize. I just figured it'd be good to get a head-start. :laugh:

Well if you know the letter then what I would do is look up the reputable resllers list and write a mass email saying the date of the bag, size, hardware, leather and color preferences. If your not in a hurry then I would do that instead of trying to do a text search. JMHO.:flowers:
