Hi,
My next wishlist item is a Kelly 28 sellier. I love the leathers of Hermes as much as I love the bags themselves. I already own bags in box, Togo, Clemence and Epsom.
I am desperate to extend my collection of beautiful leathers. Chevre is next on my list.

What is everyone’s experience with Chevre? I know Epsom would be a more practical choice 😬
I’ve read chevre is popular in smaller bags, but how does it fair in a sellier in the 28 size?
How durable is it? I’m a mother of 4. I only use my box leather Kelly on trips without the kids. Is chevre kid friendly? 😂

Any photos would be massively appreciated.
Colour wise, I’ve opted for greys, black and Vert Madame.

Thanks in advance 🥰

I am a fan and own two larger bags in chèvre - a K32 and a B30. The K32 is retourné and many years old. It has a slight soft slouch. The B30, by contrast (also a similar age) is fairly rigid in comparison. I would guess that a K28 sellier would tend more towards the rigid end of the scale but others will know better. I find chèvre to be a very lightweight and practical leather and I love the grain. If I get a chance today I will add pictures.

Thank you. I’ve only seen posts from owners of smaller bags so this is brilliant to hear.

Chevre is one of my favorite leathers and I own 6 bags in this leather, one of which is my 10 year old tricolored K28 sellier. It has maintained its shape, and chevre for me is a care-free leather. I also have a K35 in chevre that has softened but has aged beautifully. I think this leather is beautiful in any bags in any size.
I absolutely adore this leather, and even though i love barenia and box just as much, I ended up with the most in chevre.

I think chevre is durable and kid friendly, but I don’t really carry my sellier Ks while I’m out and about with my youngest because of the sharp corners.

I have a chèvre sellier K28 in Noir. It's very structured. I also have a few sellier K25s in chèvre, also structured. The stiffening layer in sellier Kellys generally means that they do not soften, although I have seen photos of a few with corner softening.

Chèvre is lightweight and durable; it will scratch if something scrapes it, but so will Epsom. It is one of my favorite leathers, along with Barenia and Box. It's more durable than Box in terms of scratches. Not really comparable to Barenia as they are totally different vibes.

Here is my K28. Photos obviously from when I bought it, but it does not look any different today. The stitching is Cobalt, the hardware is palladium brossé. Hope this is helpful.

ETA: I should mention that I don't carry this bag, although it is beautiful. It's only been out a couple times. I am very petite and 28 sellier is just a touch big on me especially if I am not wearing heels. The structure plus the size of the bag makes it feel formal and I am not a formal dresser, and I have my 25s which I do wear often. This is probably a bag which will be edited from my collection at some point. However, it holds much more than a 25, and I have seen many many people carry off a bag like this with élan.

Ditto in all cases, right down to bag size. My K32 I purchased new in 2006, it has held up beautifully. My B30 is new from 2014...I do NOT baby it and it still looks new. IMHO having also owned a lot of togo Chevre holds up much better over time in terms of color retention and leather structure.

Chevre is highly sort after because of its lightness;
it has a caché of being slightly unusual and is often chose for a SO;
because it has a naturally textured surface it proves itself to be robust regardless of its lightness.

As QuelleFromage implied any leather can be scratched if youare unfortunate - but the odd touch of a careless fingernail, that could mark box, should not register.

I have a few K28 in Mysore and love them all. As others have pointed out, it is very rigid and is very light, which is why I love them so much. I

Since they have all been SOs, I ordered them with a longer strap to wear crossbody. With the crossbody strap, I am able to easily wear them for errands or while traveling.

I personally do not like Epsom for bags, so to get the structured look there is only Box, Tadelakt, Butler, or Mysore. Mysore is the only skin that is suitable to wear everyday without having to worry about scratches. While I use my Mysore K28 often, the other Kellys I have in Butler and Box rarely make it out of the closet.
