Hi! So a friend of mine wants to buy his girlfriend a present for their anniversary and he asked me for my input. He really wants to do a bracelet and/or a ring, his preference being to manage both. He wants to get her something for everyday wear, not to propose. They've spoken about this, and she doesn't want him proposing for a few years, so she's not going to misconstrue the ring (I checked). She mostly wears silver or white gold, and has a couple of rose gold pieces, but nothing from Tiffany yet.

After going through several brands he's hit upon Tiffany, and we shortlisted it down to these 4 options:
- Tiffany T single chain bracelet in rose gold only
- Tiffany T square wrap ring in rose gold & sterling silver only
- Unbranded (local jeweller) white gold eternity band & a bracelet (single diamond mounted on white gold chain).
- Tiffany T single chain bracelet in sterling silver & unbranded (local jeweller) white gold eternity band.

Out of his four options, I thought the best bet would be the 4th, because he could get the benefit of the brand name and also get some gold and diamond for his money. Instead of giving her both wrapped, which would look strange because the Tiffany would outshine the local jeweller any day, we figured he could make it all about the bracelet and then slip the ring on her finger, casually, as a "oh, this little thing?" to add on to a day of surprises he also has planned, giving her both things at different points in the day.

But before he pulls the trigger I thought I would ask you lovely ladies for opinions. Which of the four would you like to receive personally, as your gift?

Does your friend have other eternity bands? Would this be a stacker? If she does, then option 3 would work. For me, I would choose option 1 because I’m a firm believer in buying one good piece rather than lots of little/less expensive ones. Have fun shopping [emoji253]

Interesting, so you think option 3 is better than 4? As in, better to get 2 unbranded things than to get 1 branded and 1 unbranded? She does have some other rings, but I don't know if she would stack them or switch. She's the type to not wear more than one thing at a time (so only 1 ring, only 1 bracelet).

That's also a good point (buy one good piece instead of several less expensive ones) but we came up with this combination because he really wants to get her both a bracelet and a ring, some inside joke thing.

Thank you for the input!

This. A very wise man (who happens to work in the men’s department at Saks, and is one of the only SAs my DH will work with) once told me that men like having a lot of gifts to open, while women would rather have that one special piece. I know this isn’t true across the board, but when I think of all the people I know, I think he’s on to something.

Now that I think about it, that's quite true. He decided to go with option 1 and save the ring for a different day!
