Hi just wondering since so many people on TPF recommended to store bags in acid free paper, wonder what's the benefit of it and what happen if you used normal paper? I used a stuffing paper / stuffed paper for package and usually just put them inside the bag and now wondering if it's going to damage my bag in a long run. I probably used it for more than a year already.

I’m an artist and use acid free papers and other acid free materials for archival purposes in my art production.
I use regular tissue paper to stuff my bags and store in dust bags. I don’t use acid free paper to stuff bags.
You could stuff regular crumpled tissue paper in cotton bags and use that to fill a bag as well.

Ok, time to dust off your chemistry textbook!
Regular tissue paper is unsuitable for long-term storage. It contains sulphur and lignin, acids which break down, introducing acids into your handbag, causing potential damage. Over time is yellows and becomes brittle, just like old newspapers. Also, when disposed of these papers are harmful to the environment.
Acid-free paper has a higher pH level than regular tissue paper and contains alkalines like calcium carbonate. It can be disposed of sustainably.
What kind of tissue you use is a personal decision, but I always use acid-free paper to stuff and package my expensive designer handbags.
Another consideration is your climate. All paper attracts moisture, so if you live in a very humid environment, avoid paper altogether.
Hope this helps your decision.

maybe not responsive to your question but I mostly use old cotton socks or small towels to stuff my bags....I don't have Chanel level but haven't had any problems with this...or with using regular tissue
The option for many is acid free tissue . I use acid free tissue for my designer bags as well
as my clothes but also use clean white all cotton tees also for my handbags on occasion
I change out the acid free tissue paper several times throughout the year
I don't use pillow stuffers in my bags at all & I also use cotton garment bags to keep vintage clothing stored
We all have to find what works best for us all but most important to enjoy what we have
