As stated in the subject.......MJ & MbMJ has been my handbag loves for some time now- the durability, the buttery, soft smushiness of the leather

But I'm only 5'3 and petite and his bags can be so heavy & taxing on my arm & shoulder:cry:

But I've been considering my first leather Coach bag. Preferably preloved to start

I love the way the zipper is on the Sophia & Kelsey, slightly arched with a wide opening (I tend to carry a large continental wallet)--seems easy to open while on your arm..

Any recommendations for styles is welcomed.

Thanks!

Hello designerdiva! I have a few MJs and I love them so much but you are right, they are so heavy. Since you're looking for preloved you have a lot of options! I've found, in general, that Coach bags with the nicest leather are also a bit heavy for me.
I have a Legacy Molly and a Sophia, both are a reasonable weight and easy to get into and I like the straps. I think Coach frequently makes too narrow/uncomfortable straps.
Look at Juliette too. It is similar to Sophia, but I don't like Juliette's strap as much as Sophia's. :smile1:
Good luck!

Take a look at some of the older Madison bags, like Sophia and Lindsey. Sophia is the E/W version and comes in two sizes. Lindsey is the N/S version. They're retired but there's usually lots on eBay. Madison leather is soft and chewy and yummy. Also look for Legacy Molly and Legacy Rory.

I love my Sophia bag and the way it opens wide...makes it so easy to see what's inside. Molly and Rory are great bags too but can be heavy.

I would recommend in terms of quishiness but also light weight, the Isabelle bag. It was a shoulder/hobo bag with a longer strap too. Super squishy leather, also really light weight.

I vote for a Madison line bag. Not only because of their lightweight and large openings, but because the leather doesn't get colorworn spots as easily as the Legacy line.

My last 2 Sophia bags have no corner wear after all these years, but it only took a few weeks for the Legacy e/w duffles, Candace and Tanner bags to get the color worn off the corners.....and I'm very careful with my bags.

You might also want to do an Ebay search for bags from the Kristin line. There were dozens of different styles, and the regular leather was soft and squishy while usually being lightweight depending on the design of the bags. Usually the more metal hardware the bag had, the heavier it was. And some of the Hobo styles came with both short and long removeable straps, the longest ones could turn the bag into a crossbody.

The leather especially in the corners could be more likely to show wear, but the Kristin bags are some of my favorites. Most of them were made between 2009 and 2012. Here's a Google search for "Coach Kristin" that will give you an idea of some of the styles. I'm NOT recommending you consider any of the bags in the links since there are plenty of shady sellers whose links get picked up by Google, but at least you'll be able to see some styles.

Hi designerdiva,

My recommendation for you is phoebe. You are sure to love it. It is squishy, soft and very comfortable on the shoulder. I personally like the older version without the chain. Please check out the Phoebe clubhouse for reviews. Good luck.

Sophia is wonderful in terms of opening wide and being able to see your things easily. It came in tons of colors. Another bag that is similar is the Poppy Rocker.

Isabelle has wonderfully squishy leather but is more north/south. I like that it is a shoulder bag. Madison Hailey, which is not the same as Legacy Haley, has similar leather in a slightly smaller east/west style, and it is very lightweight.

For the absolutely most wonderfully soft, squishy leather there is nothing better than the Parker line from 2009, not to be confused with the MFF Park line.
